Metal Hurlant Chronicles on Syfy

Anybody else watching this?
I'll admit the writing and acting are kinda cheesy, but it's not enough to ruin it for me. It's just kinda goofy fun.

It's fun and keeping to the cheesiness of the source material. Sort of annoyed with the order they're being aired in though. Seems they are mixing the 2 seasons together.

From what I saw on Wikipedia when it started, they appear to be showing a Season 1 episode at 10:00 and then a Season 2 episode at 10:30. It's kind of a weird way to do it, but I guess they figure since it's an anthology we don't need to worry about following any kind of arcs.
Are all of the episodes based off of stories from the Heavy Metal comics or just some of them? I know nothing about the comics.

Heavy Metal and Metal Hurlant have been published since the early 70's. I have no idea if any of these scripts are taken directly from the magazines or if they are just inspired by.

...i like the idea of a twilight Zone/Outer Limits type of series...but despite some great actors this is NOT grabbing me...the stories seem too short, and not getting into the characters or anything. Not a MUST see...but will try it out On demand, when i have time

I had no clue what this was, so, I looked it up on IMDB.

According to IMDB, although the stories are all self contained, the Stories taken as a whole form an arc.

Each of the episodes' openings contain "based on" credits for the stories. I guess the idea was to bring stories published in Metal Hurlant to the small screen. I think they do a good job of it since they all look like they came straight out of an adult fantasy magazine.

The series does feel like Lexx meets The Twilight Zone and it is rather entertaining. I really liked hearing Sammy Hagar's Heavy Metal in Joe Flanigan's ep.

I wish the show had a little more verve.

I'm really bothered by the name Metal Hurlant for some reason.

Well, it is the true name of the magazine that we know in the U.S. as "Heavy Metal". It was first published in France and the french title was Metal Hurlant (link)

I think it's OK, "Heavy Metal" carries a certain comic vibe which the show doesn't really have. "Metal Hurlant" is a bit more low-key Euro sounding which seems better suited.

Is it just the Metal Hurlant's journey or is there some kind of a connection between the stories I'm not noticing?
I did notice a Turtle-sapien from last week's episode in the second one of this week's. I wasn't sure if they were actually supposed to be in the same universe, or if the producers were just reusing the costume/makeup to fill out the background like they did on Trek a lot.

Ah, re-reading it, it says:

An anthology series in which each episode is a self-contained story set in a different world, with all stories linked together by an asteroid called the Metal Hurlant, which is passing close to the planet that is the focus of the current episode.

So, I guess not an actual Arc afterall.

This week we did get two episodes that tied into previous episodes. The first one had the crime boss from a couple episode back, and the second one appeared to be in the same world as the first episode on Syfy.
I just looked at IMDB and the first one with the crime boss guy was actually the episode right before this one. I didn't realize they were airing that out of order on Syfy.
