TNG early makeup footage

Is the first guy with the crazy hair in the Laforge costume really Tim Russ? I love the music too, it sound like it was used in episodes but I can't think which ones at the moment

@PaleMoonlight Music is from "Birthright, Pt I" during the Data dream sequence, "Hollow Pursuits" at the intro of the goddess of empathy, Bones tour of the Ent-D and the reuniting of Imzadis (Riker/Troi) in "Encounter at Farpoint"

It might be Burton's stand-in.

The video linked to was ripped from TNG S1 on Blu-ray. So it's been out since July 2012. When it first came out LeVar Burton tweeted that he had no idea who that guy was. So it is apparently just some dude who was on the Paramount lot that they pulled in to use for makeup tests.

Brent Spiner with pinkish white skin, those eyes, and that slicked back hair? Now that's the thing of nightmares.

I guess the slicked back brown hair, heavy makeup and red cheeks was the lost sex-bot model of the Data/Lore/B4 series of androids.

Funny thing is that when Galoob produced the very first TNG action figures back in '88, they had several different versions of Data, including one with a sort of grayish skin as seen briefly in the video.

Pretty obvious they didn't know what the hell to do with Marina's hair early on, haha.

The Betazoid black contact lenses do not look very good at all when the face is overlit.

It did take them a few years before they all looked good. My feeling, they wanted to make the crew to look young. Well, that is nice but ... a young looking crew just makes you feel like everyone is in their 20's. They looked better after season one.

Seeing that video reminds me of one sad thing. Before TNG premiered. Wil Wheaton was probably the most well known of the cast. Burton was known only for "Roots" and Stewart was known in the US for "Dune" (a supporting part at that).

Why was that sad? All actors were unknown at one point. Brad Pitt. Bob Hope. Bill Cosby. All of them.
