Ghostbusters 2016: Talk about the movie(s).

Re: Aykroyd Comments on Murray, Ghostbusters 3! Working on Script w/Ra

Man this news was a real kick in the teeth...

.

Concerning the sequel and it getting done or not, I wonder what Harold Ramis would want. I think he'd want the show to go on if possible.

Given the nature of the franchise, Egon could always appear in a sequel. Use old footage and make him look ghostly. They could even use it as the catalyst for the start of the movie, the funeral for their friend.

And I wouldn't mind seeing Egon slime Bill Murray's character.

Nice, and a scene with Egon sliming Peter would be worth the price of admission! I was thinking his (Egons) sudden death could have the guys considering disbanding in grief, but when a visit from Egons spirit brings information of a coming ghostly catastrophe they are reinvigorated into action.

And if they set it now, they can lways have Egon and Janine's son or daughter join the team.

Love that idea. It's sensible. We could also maybe see Egon hang out with Slimer

Although I would love it if he didn't immediately appear to them, but rather he give them signs that he's still around in the form of traits that used to annoy them when still around.

They could find a Slinky that has been straightened...

And a preponderance of molds, spores, and fungus growing in the office.

Seriously though, I say let it rest.

Yeah, agreed. Letting it rest is for the best.

He added that the focus must be "not just another movie or another TV show, but what's the totality of it? The whole mythology from the beginning of their lives, the end of their lives. Ghostbusters at nine years old, Ghostbusters in high school."

I think Mr. Aykroyd has been sampling a little too much of his own product.

Re: Aykroyd Comments on Murray, Ghostbusters 3! Working on Script w/Ra

Are we sure he is not just trolling at this point?

With almost anyone else, I'd say he was just shining everyone on, but Aykroyd is bugnuts crazy and believes everything that comes out of his mouth.

As much as I love Ghostbusters, I can't resist the urge to post this threadbomb.

Ray has gone bye-bye.

^I'm terrified beyond the capacity for rational thought.

Seriously, I know Aykroyd has always been a bit on the weird side (and we all love him for that) but when did he totally loose the plot? I had no idea he'd gone this bonkers.

Re: Aykroyd Comments on Murray, Ghostbusters 3! Working on Script w/Ra

Indeed. I love Aykroyd and pretty much everything he's ever done or been in. I wish there could have been a Ghostbusters 3 (20 years or so ago, when everyone was younger and still alive) but, man, this guy is a bit batty.

Again, that battiness has by and large worked for him but what he's saying/doing here is just pure craziness.

Re: Aykroyd Comments on Murray, Ghostbusters 3! Working on Script w/Ra

Count me in on that, too. Love Aykroyd, but this is a bit overboard. I do, however, like Murray's idea that if they are going to make another Ghostbusters, have it be a team of women this time around.

When did Egon and Janine have time to have a kid? Also, I thought that she'd moved on to Louis Tully do to a lack of interest from Egon.

Myself, I'd love to see a racially diverse Ghostbusters cast: if they want to do it as all female, then they should also cast for a wider racial net as well.

The problem with that in such a small group is that it'd look like token casting. Best to just cast the best people for the roles, regardless of race...but I do tend to agree *at least* one should be something other than white.

Well, his original screenplay for The Blues Brothers was supposed to have been some 300 pages long, with separate plots for each member of the band, a supernatural origin for the cop car etc.

Re: Aykroyd Comments on Murray, Ghostbusters 3! Working on Script w/Ra

I don't know, I think he might be pulling everyone's legs. He knows everyone wants to hear some news, and it's been the same old everytime they ask him. So he's likely tired of that question. To me, he sounds sarcastic about the whole thing, and he's known to be rather sarcastic. He's a master of the straight-face. Seeing as nothing much has happened in terms of Ghostbusters 3, the likely hood of an MCU-like franchise seems to be a faint prospect. I think he's playing on that.
