Ghostbusters 2016: Talk about the movie(s).

Re: Aykroyd Comments on Murray, Ghostbusters 3! Working on Script w/Ra

This movie will happen after Hell freezes over.

Re: Aykroyd Comments on Murray, Ghostbusters 3! Working on Script w/Ra

With Harold Ramis' death... that puts the likelihood of "Part 3" ever being made even further off in the distance

Re: Aykroyd Comments on Murray, Ghostbusters 3! Working on Script w/Ra

Actually, I was thinking that while it puts the sequel idea to rest... Sony may want to charge ahead with a reboot with or without Ankroid at the helm.

Ethros, "just leave it" is in no one's vocabulary in Hollywood.

We'll see a reboot of Back to the Future in our lifetime, for example. I've found a lot of happiness in not fighting the inevitable and I've been preparing mentally for the BTTF reboot - it's all a matter of time. I consider BTTF and GB to be sacred but... that doesn't fill the pockets of shareholders.

You're probably right. But then it's not like there have been remakes of Citizen Kane, Casablanca, It's A Wonderful Life, Gone With The Wind, etc

I guess it's just something about the SF/F genre

Like literally...

Not remakes, but there have been sequels to It's A Wonderful Life and Gone with the Wind, both TV movies.

Re: Aykroyd Comments on Murray, Ghostbusters 3! Working on Script w/Ra

They even made a "Rosemary's Baby 2".

It's A Wonderful Life...Hmmm...Are you sure there hasn't been any remakes, or Re-imaginings with Different Names. It will be amazing, if there really have been Zero reuses of the story.

Casablanca wasn't the 1942 "Definitive Version" the second or third version it? (There's a 1955 and a 1983 TV Series) and there's a few movies with names that suggest they could be Sequels and/or alternate versions listed on IMDB. I seem to recall either Ben Maciewicz or Robert Osbourne mentioned at least one, if not two or more other versions of Casablanca, at least one of them prior to it. (Though maybe, I'm misremembering?)

Re: Aykroyd Comments on Murray, Ghostbusters 3! Working on Script w/Ra

The idea of an extremely late sequel to Ghostbusters was bad to begin with. The idea of doing and extremely late sequel without Ramis or Murray is a terrible, terrible, terrible idea.

You may be thinking of The Maltese Falcon?

So reboot it is, then. I knew that it was a question not of if, but when.

Re: Aykroyd Comments on Murray, Ghostbusters 3! Working on Script w/Ra

The "Casablanca" starring Myra Dinglebat and Peter Beardsley was the definitive one.

Re: Aykroyd Comments on Murray, Ghostbusters 3! Working on Script w/Ra

Does "Overdrawn at the Memory Bank" count as a Casablanca remake?

;)

Given the nature of the franchise, Egon could always appear in a sequel. Use old footage and make him look ghostly. They could even use it as the catalyst for the start of the movie, the funeral for their friend.

And I wouldn't mind seeing Egon slime Bill Murray's character.

Re: Aykroyd Comments on Murray, Ghostbusters 3! Working on Script w/Ra

:wah: Poor Egon!

Of course, you notice in that pic they've got him in the ghost trap. There's no way they'll let him go!

It Happened One Christmas was a remake of It's a Wonderful Life.
Ah, I remember that one, I knew there had to be at least one.

Not to mention "It's a Very Merry Muppet Christmas Movie."
Some of that movie was bizarre (and plenty of it was predictable), but it's pretty impressive they did a callback to Doc Hopper's French Fried Frog Legs.

Re: Aykroyd Comments on Murray, Ghostbusters 3! Working on Script w/Ra

Man this news was a real kick in the teeth...

.

Concerning the sequel and it getting done or not, I wonder what Harold Ramis would want. I think he'd want the show to go on if possible.

Nice, and a scene with Egon sliming Peter would be worth the price of admission! I was thinking his (Egons) sudden death could have the guys considering disbanding in grief, but when a visit from Egons spirit brings information of a coming ghostly catastrophe they are reinvigorated into action.
