That's a LOT better cover....in a week or so, Amazon should have it.

It is a much better cover and I'm eager to read this. I find the step-by-step developments of the episodes fascinating. Even the stories that didn't make it are interesting. And, of course, there is the behind-the-scenes shennanigans that are interesting as well.

With Harvey's invaluable aid it will interesting fact chacking this one, too.

Someone please pass on to Harvey's partner, friends, and family our apologies. Harv is going to be busy for a while...

Considering how GR could mend fences when it was beneficial for him to do so (Ellison in the pre-TMP years), it could be he had to go to Coon hat-in-hand for the QUESTOR rewrite. Then again, it could be that the material actually spoke to Coon, because I find the QUESTOR antagonist to be just superbly realized, in part because of actor John Vernon but also because he is so well-written, and his dialog just HAS to be Coon's.

I figure GR had to be jealous of the fact Coon made his show work better in a lot of ways than he had set out to do, and maybe GR didn't like the comedy aspects either, unless the comedy originated with him (anti-Christian type sentiments.)

The fact Shatner has always been so unstinting with his praise for Coon (and that goes back to the 70s with his SHATNER WHERE NO MAN book, which has him saying something like Gene Coon, by leaps and bounds above everybody else, is what made the show work) has always been a pretty heavy signifier for me.

    Agree with all your points.

Feel free to take this with a pinch of salt guys, this is not verified, just something I've heard a few times in a few different places...

Apparently Coon was Christian and GR (clearly not being one), hated the ending. Equally Coon hated the jabs at TV networks that GR wanted in there. The writing process became a tug of war, and Coon - exhausted by the goings-on well covered in this thread, decided to walk.

However it happened, his departure was a massive, massive loss for the show.

I just started a new job and won't be giving Cushman any more of my hard earned cash. But if people want to pass along information from the book I'd be happy to look things up. My own research has slowed, but certainly hasn't stopped.

Interesting legal move on the cover there, indicating that the image is from one of the advertising "bumpers." That seems pretty shadey to me, but I'm no legal expert.

I got an advanced eBook copy and so far he's repaired a lot of the mistakes of the season 1 book.

Agreed. I was also looking for reviews, but at this point there don't appear to be any yet. But since the book will start shipping within the next two weeks or so then reviews should start appearing soon.

I'd wait for Harvey to review it, but I fear that Cushman won't send him a review copy.

Is there even an option on the website to request a review copy for volume two? Didn't see one.

...Not that he'd ever send me one.

True. In point of fact, three people read my negative review and bought the book anyway through my affiliate links.
