Marvel planning Guardians of the Galaxy movie!

The humor in this trailer "mostly" worked for me, I just hope any future trailers gives the movie more of the "serious" vibe or a vibe to better fit in with the rest of the MCU. Zoe Saldana looked great in this, though!

You win some you lose some. People complain that comic book films are taking themselves too seriously, so when a preview is shown that *gasp* shows the movie will have a little fun, people complain it's not "serious" enough.

*sigh*

I have no experience with the comic but this looks better than I thought it would... don't mind the humor.

I still doubt it'll be that big a hit with the mundanes, though...

"Normals" weren't looking for a Thor movie either, and that did very well.

I predict GotG will do just fine. :)

I'm good to go with the tone of the film. I am impressed with Marvel's giant brass balls making this their next franchise attempt. Considering these guys aren't a name at all, I figure they wouldn't be making the movie unless they thought it was going to be good.

What gives me pause more than anything else is Chris Pratt. I'm not getting the sense that he could carry this. Thankfully, a bunch of the supporting actors are awesome, so it'll probably balance out.

Yeah, it was just an intro to the characters. I don't think the actual movie will be quite so bubbly.
Yeah, that's what they said about Dark Shadows. :rommie:

That looked pretty sad to me, for pretty much the reasons that FSM delineates. :rommie:

I wasn't crazy about Chris Pratt's "Ugly American" type character which seems a bit hamfisted.
Seriously. Is that what they've really done with Star-Lord in the comics? A dimwit in a trenchcoat? Some people think the movie will bomb because it's too exotic? It looks too dreary and mundane to me. And what is it with the aesthetics of contemporary "sci fi" movies? All these super-advanced alien civilizations can invent warp drives and force fields and ray guns, but none of them can come up with a 75-watt light bulb? :D

Karen Gillan looks pretty cool in the half second they show her.

Immortalized in gif format to be seen over and over.

Marvel knocking it out of the park...

Meanwhile at FOX, they have cast Billy Elliott as Ben Grimm

With FOX i'm just not as excited as I am with Marvel.

Their stuff looks drab. Even though they don't own all Marvel Characters at least embrace what they have.

Wolverine should wear his classic costume etc. They're not using their property to the fullest potential.

I don't recall anyone saying anything about Dark Shadows. The tone in the full-length trailers felt like a comedy there. We can't say the same about GOTG yet because we only have a teaser.

I love this "teaser" for the sheer fun of it but now I'm really wanting to see the "trailer" that gives us a hint of the what the story and tone of the movie is going to be.

I haven't read any of the GotG comics and when I'd first heard about the concept for the film, wasn't exactly convinced.

The trailer makes it look as though it might be fun though.

The only character who rings a bell is Rocket Raccoon who I might have seen in "The Masque of the Red Breath"?
