    That is beautiful!

So day two! I'm really looking forward to what goodies Funko has in store with us in the Legacy line, and how Mattel plans to insult us one last time in the DC line.

At least they haven't stolen your money yet.

Official pics for the next tf generations line. Guessing Arcee, Megatron, Chromia and Brainstorm are going to show up at Botcon.

Jetfire, looks like the helmet can be removed there.

Darth Plagueis, the Sith Lord mentioned in Revenge of the Sith and written about in the Expanded Universe. He's already been released in Wave 3 of the Black Series, but (unsurprisingly) most can't find him. He's the hot chase figure in his wave assortment.

They just tossed some not-so-brand-new figures onto those shelves to spice things up and pad out the displays.

    Well, this was unexpected.

Mattel's send off for DCUC isn't one stupid repaint, it's six stupid repaints and a mini-figure. They're pandering to the nostalgic Super Powers collectors with seven figures all based on that old line. Actually, six of them are based off Super Powers. One figure, Green Lantern as Riddler, is a joke figure based off Super Amigos, an Argentinian knock-off line. The horribly mismatched shades of green on Matty's figure are apparently intentional, to capture that nostalgic knock-off flavor.

You know, this kinda encapsulates the entire reason this line has died. Our final farewell is a bunch of really easy repaints, that they will charge close to $30 for. The only newly sculpted thing is Mxy. However he's small, has barely any articulation, and they'll be charging the same price for him as the rest. Matty isn't willing to put in any effort, and just assumes we'll buy whatever crap they churn out for whatever price they feel like charging.

I kind of wish there was a rear view of Jetfire. I like a lot of the design elements, but it's harder to judge how his jet pack kibble looks from the front given the way it sticks out.

Not sure yet about Nightbeat. He doesn't look too bad actually, but I have to wonder if Jazz's mold might have worked better given how many Bumblebee variants we tend to get.

Gold Superman? Goat Man? They must be bored apparently... :p

Wow. Sorry to hear that final character lineup is so weak.

The worst part is the exorbitant prices they're going to charge us for what are simple repaints.

If I get any of these, it's going to be Mxy. It won't be through Matty, though. I'll grab him for pennies on the dollar when the Asian production samples hit eBay. There's no accessories to miss out on here, and I give absolutely no craps about the brown Kalibak BAF, so there's no real downside to doing that in this case.

It's interesting to see how much Jetfire has changed from the original Macross/Robotech transformable fighter he was originally based on.

IIRC, Harmony Gold (owner of the Robotech IP) tried to sue Hasbro over this. A private settlement was reached out of court between the two companies and the case was subsequently dismissed.

Thanks to Bay it at least guarantees Hasbro will make generation toys of the Dinobots that aren't named Grimock.

The guy in charge of the Infinite Lines was asked why they're not doing any figures for "X-Men: Days of Future Past" and he responded with "We never said we weren't" so perhaps they've got something planned for down the pipe. This movie is practically screaming for line with all of it's characters, and giant Sentinels! So maybe we'll get something announced in a couple of months prior to the film, or maybe even after the film.

I might get the Superman, Batman, and Wonder Woman figures. It's sad what has happened with the line.

I wonder what they will do with the Movie Masters, especially with MOS 2 next year. I want a Movie Masters MOS 2 (whatever it gets called) Wonder Woman and BatAffleck figures!

From what I've read, they sued over the depiction of a Macross Valkyrie design on the card art for the SDCC GI Joe/Transformers crossover set. The suit was dismissed with prejudice and no settlement was reached or necessary.

The Generations leader figure is different enough that it probably doesn't step on Harmony Gold's toes anyway – the alt mode is clearly based on an F-14 with a few F-22 Raptor elements thrown in, and the robot mode is straight-up the G1 cartoon model, which never looked much like a Valkyrie anyway.

This might be old news to some, but it appears the upcoming 6" Anakin Skywalker in the Black Series (Revenge of the Sith) will have interchangeable heads like Darth Maul. One to represent Anakin before his fall to the Dark Side and conversion to a Sith Lord, the other to depict his transformation into Darth Vader and his appearance during Order 66 and Mustafar.

I'm glad they're taking that route. While it doesn't eliminate the chances of a redundant release of a separate "Darth Vader" version of Anakin sometime down the road it does probably reduce them. At this point much of the collecting community will probably respond with "the fewer PT Anakins from this point on, the better."

There goes getting it at all, quite frankly.

I hate exclusives. All figures should be readily available for anyone who wants them.

It was more than just the card art. The particular SDCC G.I. Joe/Transformer itself was basically a copy of the Macross Valkyrie/Robotech veritech fighter.

Harmony Gold's rights over Macross is nothing short of a notorious icky mess and a bone of contention with many anime fans, but essentially Harmony Gold still continues to license toys and other stuff based on those original designs in the U.S.
Pretty much everywhere I've gone that's featured the topic has mentioned an out of court settlement was reached, but that the details of the settlement are private.

The OOC settlement could be monetary or just a legal agreement between the two parties.

I'm telling you, if you had the stamina and will to do this on a continuing basis I'd want you to have a spinoff thread of your own. This stuff is great!

Thanks. I'm sure more people on the board than just the ones that frequent this thread would find it interesting. I just haven't been sure if I should go post it in the pic thread too, or something.

And with that, we finally have our final hero introduced. I wouldn't dare add any more. This cast is getting cumbersome as is. That's part of why I decided they had to be split up into two groups.
