Going to Eden ... Yea brother

Ok, not one of the better episodes....or songs. But kind of fun in a strange sort of way. I don't suppose anyone has the words and guitar chords for this little ditty?

I quite like the music in the jam session Spock has with the chick playing the bicycle wheel. I was happy when they released it ("Far Out Jam") as part of the complete recordings box set

The ONLY two good things about "The Way To Eden" are two carryovers from "The Doomsday Machine": The (fully functional) Auxiliary Control Room, and Elizabeth Rogers as Lt. Palmer. Otherwise, bllleeeccccchhhhhhhhhhh!

The box set is great, alright. I even like the embarrassing rock n roll songs, in private of course.

The girl playing the wheel is Deborah Downey. Along with Charles Napier, she sang her own part. The performance scenes were lip-sync'd to a playback tape, but that's really her singing on it. She went on to become a painter, and one of her commissions was a portrait of Gene Roddenberry.

"Girl #2" was played by Phyllis Douglas, a favorite ST hottie of mine. She was on the show twice and got to ride the shuttlecraft both times. She probably thought they used it in every episode.

Interesting progression, but annoying as it resolves into a different key.

This was the "establishment's" vision of hippies in the 60s. Every TV show of the time seemed to feature a hippie episode at some point (even F-Troop!). All of them were probably written by men who were "over thirty" and had no idea what really went on in the culture.

I like the part when Adam sings in Auxiliary Control, while Sevrin is adjusting the circuitry to kill. It's pretty bittersweet, if you can dig it. This episode ranks somewhere in the middle, for me. It reaches me, if you see what I did there, and it gets points just for being the only musical episode.

I grok this episode. It's one of my guilty pleasures. Yes, it's bad, but I enjoy the look at civilian life we see here, as well as fleshing Chekov's backstory a little.

I know Joanna McCoy was originally supposed to be in the group. I'm glad we got Lilianna. It would have been nice to see Joanna in a different episode or movie.

Nice trivia, and I agree with you about the lovely Ms. Douglas. Sadly not much of a part, and not much of an episode.

I once met Mary Linda Rapelye (Irina), who would have to be one of the friendliest, warmest people you could imagine. Still looked absolutely gorgeous decades later. If I were Chekov, I would have mutinied

As for the episode: I've always been a big fan of "The Way to Eden". I know, it's kind of a tradition to hate the episode, but I love it. Especially the songs. I was so glad to finally see them released properly when the complete soundtrack edition came out.
