In regards to all series and "jumping in" at any point

Just wanted to get some feedback in regards to whether or not you can just jump into the series at any random point and enjoyment factor and understanding will not be compromised

TOS jump in and watch any episode any time

TAS ditto

TNG ditto

DS9 absolutely watch in order from start to finish seasons 1-7

VOY jump in anytime although they made a colloidal blunder with this could have been so much better with long arcs and the progression of their journey

ENT jump in anytime seasons 1 and 2
Seasons 3 and 4 watch all episodes in order a la DS9 maybe even start with season 2 finale

Films jump in anytime although I guess you could marathon 2-4 as a trilogy. I still think these work standalone though

What are your thoughts and preferences on viewings?

After watching them all, it's easy for me to jump in any episode of any series at any time, though there are a few episodes that I wouldn't mind skipping.

TOS, TNG and Voy can be jumped in any point. I tend to watch in order just because it's how they're presented on Netflix, skipping the stinkers. (Probably only 50-60 Voy episodes actually worth watching).

DS9 you pretty much have to watch start to end, skipping only the 10-20 really bad episodes.

ENT, if I ever watch again I'll start at the start of season 3 and just watch in order.

With ENT, there are sporadic episodes that advance the temporal cold war story arc in seasons one and two - which continues in season three to an extent. It's worth keeping that in mind while deciding where to start the show.

DS9 has plenty of arc based episodes, especially in the last two seasons, but the vast majority of episodes are still self contained and can be jumped into.

In my opinion, for the series I've watched, it's okay to "jump in" at any point. I can't speak for TOS or VOY, but "jumping in" works for TNG, and Enterprise. DS9 gets pretty serial in the later seasons, so for that series it's probably best to start from the beginning. TNG is a great series to watch from any point, however, chances are you'll end up wanting to see all the episodes and will go back to see the earlier ones. While there's nothing wrong with that, I found that in TNG there was a huge change between the later episodes and the early ones. The characters look different, the film quality changes, and its a rather difficult adjustment.

Although Mr Daniels makes a few appearances in the third season, the Temporal Cold War is not touched on at all that season aside from the cliffhanger scene in the finale.
