My favorite -

When I saw this in the theater lobby in Early, Texas, I just loved it. I would go to the theater early just to look at it while they had it on display. Too bad they wouldn't give it to me...

Runners up -

My sister and I each got miniposter copies of this one from the theater manager in Stephenville, Texas. He was a Trekkie, too, and said he'd already put in to keep the "Two Captains. One Destiny." poster for himself when it came down from their lobby display.

I still have this one in storage somewhere...

Honorable Mentions -

Got this one, which was pre-signed by Leonard Nimoy, at a special event in Austin, Texas about a month before the reboot came out. And since "Spock" was only four seats away from my reserved seat at the theater, I got his signature on sign, too, on his way out the aisle.

Also in Austin, I won a miniposter copy of the TNG Best of Both Worlds poster when I attended the screenin' event in costume last year. Sure, other folks wore t-shirts, but I went all out. The guy who gave it to me even said he liked my commbadge because it wasn't a flashy metal one like most people wear.

STAR TREK III: The Search for Spock

By far, this one is my favourite. The Human hand is evident in having made it, but it doesn't look overly painterly, like something Vincent DiFate would've created or someone else, like that. Bob Peak was a Hollywood artist who had a lot of work from the Sixties, through the 8O's and I am very inspired by his poster art. He did all of the STAR TREK movie posters, up to TUC, which was done by someone else, in his style. Unfortunately, photography became more fashionable and this kind of art has been dead for a long time. TMP and TSFS were his best posters for this franchise and they still hold up as strong, memorable images.

Always liked the original FC one - thats a proper movie poster. Never seen that alternative Generations before, I like it. Not down with the Nemesis one at all though, I think that's probably at the bottom of the pile for me - doesn't seem like a Trek movie poster to me I don't like all that green smoke (nothing to do with the film I might add which I really like), and I've always thought of that ST09 as a bit meh too, a bit over stylised for my taste.

Keep these alternative ones coming, I haven't seen any of them before!

When I first saw Star Trek Generations, they gave out that particular Generations poster. I still have it on my wall. I wish they still gave out posters at theatres.

Oh I remember being so excited seeing the ENT-D on a movie poster...thinking, "wow, this is really happening!!!" I became obsessed with that variation on the insignia logo. I drew it all the time.

Still a decent one, but I can't decide wether or not I prefer it to the original one...

Funny story, when TUC was coming out I was 100% avoiding spoilers. I didn't know the story, the guest stars, anything. I hadn't seen the trailer or the poster.

I accidentally caught this poster out of the corner of my eye, and glimpsing the shape and texture of Chang's eye-patch for the briefest of moments, I was CONVINCED the Guardian of Forever was being featured in this film

Both good also, I didn't list TWOK in my absolute favourites precisely because of that! Looks like the artist got briefed incorrectly! I quite like the simplicity of the Generations one.

Next please...

I remember when I was a kid and TWOK came out, they had cardboard cutouts of the crew of the Botany Bay in their shrowds standing in the lobby. They were creepy looking!

... I wish they still gave out posters at theatres.

Some places still do.

Last summer, when The Heat came out, Alamo Drafthouse gave out Mondo posters for the movie.

And I know the Gateway & Arbor theaters in Austin leave miniposters out for folks from time to time.

And if ya get into free advance screenings the studios hold in major markets, like Austin, Dallas, Houston, San Antonio, and New Orleans, free posters are usually part of the deal.

Thanks for posting those AllStarEntprise, I'd seen the TOS ones before but that's the first times I've seen the 4 TNG ones.
They're all great apart the First Contact one, her face just doesn't look right.

The GEN one is awesome though

My favorite is TMP, my favorite movie. There is just something about the way the Enterprise looks in this poster. And the feeling that look evoks for me follows through the movie as well.

My second favourite is the standard rainbow TMP poster. My opinion of the Trek poster art in general is that its pretty poor.

I'm not sure which one you're referring to, post it, let's have a look.

Have to disagree with you on your second point, it's all subjective of course but I think it's excellent in the main, you have to bear in mind that a lot of this artwork is 30 years old or more, and was more than likely done by paintbrush - way before you could knock stuff up like this on a mac in a few hours.

I've got no problem with the composition or colours I just think the artwork of the faces of the actors is a bit 'off' especially Spock's
