Munch was also on the original Law & Order, The Beat and - believe it or not - Mad About You.

Not that I'm aware of, but he has been on six or seven series.

Ah. So technically, it wasn't really Det. Munch on Mad About You. Interesting.

Ray Walston as Uncle Martin jumps to mind.
The My Favorite Martian TV show (1966) to My Favorite Martian movie (1999), 36 years.

Also, isn't this the third or fourth time that the original trilogy actors have been confirmed as returning?

It increases my confidence that it will happen, so keep the confirmations coming!

Principal photography begins in just a few months' time so I'd hope by now we'd be getting confirmation of at least the Big Three from the OT if nobody else. My guess is: yes. Carrie, Harrison and Mark are going to be in the film but they can't yet show up on Jimmy Fallon or The Daily Show and say anything in front of a large television audience.

So we're getting comments like Carrie's.

Yeah ... didn't one of the recent articles about the script being finished indicate that, with scripting being out of the way, the casting process can officially begin? I imagine over the past few months the production company has sent out feelers, trying to line up prospective talent (hence the subtle leaks of info about The Big Three) ... but without an actual script, there was nothing for the actors to actually agree to. Now that it's done, the actors can be offered specific roles (which, hopefully, they will want to portray). With filming just a couple of months away, I imagine we'll see those official announcements very soon.

    Can't wait!

Peter's all over Facebook communicating with his fans and he recently had major knee and leg surgery which has for the moment exacerbated his use of canes, which could prove problematic for shooting Chewie's scenes in the new film. My guess is that Peter will be in Episode VII but they might have to use some digital trickery to make Chewie more mobile in certain scenes if Mayhew's physical issues persist into the filming schedule.

^ One would hope that they would utilize Peter at least once, even in a simple, "stand here" scene ... to at least give him the continuity. I would think that they would. He's been a "good soldier" for the franchise over the years - unlike, say, David Prowse.

Even if he's not in any more scenes than he was in Episode III it'd be so wonderful to see Mayhew's distinctive eyes peeking through his Chewie makeup, hopefully tinged with some silver and grey streaks as his character will be a generation older in the new movie and it only makes sense for Chewie and his best bud to grow old together. :)

I'm also hoping to hear something about Anthony Daniels and Kenny Baker. It wouldn't be Star Wars without the droids.

Tom Baker as the Doctor from his regeneration to the Curator scene in Day of the Doctor was how many years?

I'd say Anthony and Kenny are as close to sure bets as possible when it comes to casting a Star Wars film. George once said that by the time his Saga was finally complete the two droids would be the only characters to appear in every single movie, so unless one or both actors fall ill before shooting begins I'm guessing they'll don their classic costumes once more.
