I can't think of a single name villain. I haven't read the MMW Ant-Man/Giant Man in a number of years. My main recollection was that his foes were generic mad scientists and government operatives.

He never had his own ongoing solo to really build a rogues gallery. Ultron is the main antagonist he created for himself and that's being co-opted.

Yeah, I saw a rumored plot:

Probably not the main villain, but the story would involve Pym in the 60s spying on a Castro knock off named Castillo.

On a side note, I know they're doing a rewrite right now to make the movie fit in better with the MCU, but if that rumor is correct, I think it would be an easy change.

Egghead wasn't so much the classic mad scientist as a derivative one...a poor man's Sivana/Luthor.

Alidar, if that rumor is correct...
    I hope they cast EJO!

Iron Man's villains are nearly completely unknown to the public, didn't stop his movies from being monster hits.

Of course that just means it has become much more important to find the right actor to bring your superhero to life if you aren't going to sell you movie on the strength of the villains.

Pym, as the saying goes, has always been his own worst enemy.

However, a quick look at Pym's entry at the Marvel Database refers to the following rogues...

Note: The "Human Top" was Whirlwind's first code-name.

^ Out of those, who would you pick?

The Old Mixer, that would be fun. However, going by rumors, Michael Pena is going to be in it.

    That being said,
If they're having a young Pym spying on Castillo, EJO could be the modern day version of him. Of course, it's possible these rumors are no longer true. Unless they plan to use CGI to de-age Michael Douglas, they'd have to cast a third Ant-Man actor to play a young Pym. That might be a bit too much.

Probably Egghead. Porcupine and Whirlwind would make good henchmen.

    Black Knight could be interesting.

The rest aren't really worth mentioning on any level.

Looking up the characters, all of them seem dumb.

Yeah, Pym himself recently said something along the lines of "I had some really weird villains back in the day".

That said, I maintain that a good story could be crafted around the villainy of Elias Starr/Egghead, a cackling mad-scientist if there ever was one. If the movie includes Wasp, then Dave Cannon/Whirlwind makes a good B-villain. Porcupine... yeah, a good henchman.

    Bread crumbs.

The only reason to have this movie is to set up Age of Ultron by creating baby Ultron Mark I.

Of course this is probably expected to come out after Avengers II.

It's the next movie after Avengers and Ultron is said to have nothing to do with Pym. The reason to do the movie is because it's apparently a fun script they've been trying to do for awhile (even before Iron Man). I do hope Ant-Man is in Avengers 3 and I could see a younger Pym in Agent Carter (just when is that show going to air? I can see lots of tie-in potential). But I have no problem with actually trying to make Ant Man stand on his own.

That link takes me to Batman: Arkhamverse wiki style page

I'm assuming the article includes Yellowjacket and surmises a way that the Pym is the bad guy and Lang is trying to save him from himself type scenario?

Oops, I forgot to change links.
    Here's the Newsarama article.

Yeah, it talks some about ways the different villains could fit into what we know so far.

CBR has put together a list of reasons whey Ant-Man could break out. Essentially if you've been involved in this thread we've covered 90% or equal to this articles reasons.

If however, you are just checking in on this thread out of curiosity for the first time this article is a good primer of why you shouldn't off handily dismiss Ant-Man's potential for success.

The move puts Ant-Man up against WB's Pan. It'll be interesting to see if they both stick to that date and duke it out.

I don't think Pan will be much competition. The last two recent live action Peter Pan movies weren't really successful. Hook was a disappointment, and Peter Pan (2003) was an outright flop.

Hook was a hit. It was the fourth highest grossing movie of 1991 in worldwide box office. Peter Pan flopped - even though it's a very good movie - because Universal gambled, incorrectly, that the character and story would be enough of a box office draw and that big stars weren't needed. Pan has the potential to be a strong box office draw.
