You know, I think we *do* need something like Jim Crow laws brought back. Closed-minded bigots and people who're looking to a future should be separated. I don't want to use a water fountain after some idiot who hates an entire group of people simply because who they prefer to love.
Bigotry goes both ways.
http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/bigot
a person who strongly and unfairly dislikes other people, ideas, etc. : a bigoted person; especially : a person who hates or refuses to accept the members of a particular group (such as a racial or religious group)
So you, and others that put down religious groups and the ideas expressed by those religious, are also Bigots.
Are you actually trying to defend your bigotry here? Seriously?
Once again - nobody is telling you can't believe this horseshit about gays and lesbians. Feel free to subscribe to it all you want, Brent. But it's homophobic. There's no getting around that.
"Putting down a religious group" as you put it is certainly classless on some level and ideally not something one should do in my opinion. But pointing out how completely dumb it is for a certain religious group to cast judgment on, attempt to limit the rights of, and to generally treat as second-class citizens a whole subset of our society that is not going to just go away because you want it to is absolutely something people can criticize and point out as dangerous, unfair, cruel and completely hypocritical of the faith you allegedly subscribe to as it goes completely against the teachings of Jesus Christ and God Himself.
God doesn't hate gays. God doesn't hate me. God doesn't hate you. God doesn't hate ANYONE. That's his bag, baby. He loves us all.
The sooner you and your compatriots can get that through your skulls, the better off everyone will be. Until that happens though, be ready for the rest of us to remind you how outdated, outmoded, silly, and hateful you all sound.
And certainly, those of us sane enough to recognize how utterly stupid and hateful it is to think we can dictate to other people how to live their lives (let alone sit in judgment of them) are perfectly free to tell you all this and it will never, ever be constituted as bigotry. Because we understand that you have the right to believe what you believe, no matter how stupid it is. But what you don't have the right to do is force-feed that belief system on to other people.
