A&E Taking Heat For Suspending 'Duck Dynasty's' Phil Robertson

Bestiality laws usually exist for reasons. Whether Louisiana or some other state with lots of rednecks and a fair supply of available farm animals, if it's part of the state code that means somebody at some point in some area got caught being somewhat familiar with somebody's future dinner.

Let's go all tolerant the KKK and other neo-nazis!

Because going against them is bad.

My head hurts with people's "logic".

So you, and others that put down religious groups and the ideas expressed by those religious, are also Bigots.

Can you believe all the anti-KKK bigotry that exists in this country? I mean, every time some Klansman just want to have a harmless get-together in their pointy hoods, a bunch of INTOLERANT haters show up to scream at them and ruin their good time. It's unacceptable, and inexcusable. Bigotry goes both way.

Then the bestiality laws should follow through to apply towards what the foodservers do to assholes and shitty tipper's dinners at restaurants.

So after everything, it appears this whole thing might just be a tempest in a teapot:
It looks like Phil Robertson's suspension from "Duck Dynasty" may be just for show. Entertainment Weekly learned that on Jan. 15, A&E will begin airing new episodes of the show that include scenes featuring the "Dynasty" patriarch.
"The network also hopes the media and fan furor will cool down over the holidays and that tensions over shooting future episodes can then be resolved," Entertainment Weekly reports. “There’s no negotiation to have; we’re doing the show,” an inside source told them.

To recount everything we've "learned" (please note the following is being posted in a sarcastic manner. Shivkala accepts no responsibility for replies made assuming he is being serious.):
  • Good Christians like Phil Robertson are free to say what they want, no matter how offensive
  • Any attempt by a private company to affect his livelihood is an attack on his free speech and is worse than his comments about people's lifestyles
  • All non-Christians and/or gay rights supports should accept his right to say what he wants
  • Furthermore, any attempts by these individuals or groups to complain about Phil's comments should be met with all the backlash good Christians can muster
  • Said backlash should be praised, while any backlash Phil receives should be condemned
  • Suspending Phil is an attack on his right to support his family.
  • This is true even if said suspension is more for show than anything else, as the network will continue to air episodes with Phil in them and is committed to continuing to make new episodes with Phil in it
  • The public was right to boycott and complain about the Dixie Chicks in the early 2000's after they bashed then President Bush. And, since Obama still can't provide a birth certificate that die-hard Birthers believe is authentic, we should all recognize that GWB is still the legal President of America. Love it or leave it. As long as "Love it" means you love everything good, decent, Christian, and Conservative about it. You are not mandated and in fact should not love anything non-Christian, Gay, Liberal, etc. about it, because those people should just leave and go back to Kenya where Obama and presumably they, too, are from
  • 'Murrica!

Save me a seat in hell, cause apparently that's where we're all headed:

Ladies and Gentlemen, I hereby give you The Trek BBS Post of the Year.

The competition never had a chance.

Cracker Barrel Pulling Duck Dynasty Merch.

Cracker Barrel said it pulled some Duck Dynasty merchandise from its stores over concerns it might offend guests, a move that infuriated thousands of customers and confused many others.

"We removed selected products which we were concerned might offend some of our guests while we evaluate the situation," Cracker Barrel said in a statement posted on its Facebook page.

Yeah, somehow I don't see this hurting them too much. Now when they loose Wal Mart and Target, that'll be a different story

That's an interesting one. I'd assume there's a not insignificant overlap in the Venn Diagram of Cracker Barrel restaurants and Duck Dynasty watchers.

As far as I was concerned, until I was ten when I saw Jedi, he fucked her right after the medal ceremony in the real Star Wars.

Hey, Cracker Barrel has good food. I like sitting in the rocking chair outside the storefront.

When you've lost the Cracker Barrel folks, you've lost. Also, did you see that Westboro Baptist and the Phelps clan have come out in defense of Phil and are backing him up in this whole mess? I mean, these are the same people who'd probably picket the funeral of one of their own because they found out he or she secretly wore pink socks in private. They rarely support something because they seem to spend every minute of the day protesting and hating on other things.

So the suspension is a fake out, and the people protesting the fake suspension becuase they think it's real... "Are being fooled".

(I'm sure I asked how long the suspension was near the beginning of this.)

You know, I think we *do* need something like Jim Crow laws brought back. Closed-minded bigots and people who're looking to a future should be separated. I don't want to use a water fountain after some idiot who hates an entire group of people simply because who they prefer to love.

Bigotry goes both ways.

http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/bigot

a person who strongly and unfairly dislikes other people, ideas, etc. : a bigoted person; especially : a person who hates or refuses to accept the members of a particular group (such as a racial or religious group)

So you, and others that put down religious groups and the ideas expressed by those religious, are also Bigots.

Are you actually trying to defend your bigotry here? Seriously?

Once again - nobody is telling you can't believe this horseshit about gays and lesbians. Feel free to subscribe to it all you want, Brent. But it's homophobic. There's no getting around that.

"Putting down a religious group" as you put it is certainly classless on some level and ideally not something one should do in my opinion. But pointing out how completely dumb it is for a certain religious group to cast judgment on, attempt to limit the rights of, and to generally treat as second-class citizens a whole subset of our society that is not going to just go away because you want it to is absolutely something people can criticize and point out as dangerous, unfair, cruel and completely hypocritical of the faith you allegedly subscribe to as it goes completely against the teachings of Jesus Christ and God Himself.

God doesn't hate gays. God doesn't hate me. God doesn't hate you. God doesn't hate ANYONE. That's his bag, baby. He loves us all.

The sooner you and your compatriots can get that through your skulls, the better off everyone will be. Until that happens though, be ready for the rest of us to remind you how outdated, outmoded, silly, and hateful you all sound.

And certainly, those of us sane enough to recognize how utterly stupid and hateful it is to think we can dictate to other people how to live their lives (let alone sit in judgment of them) are perfectly free to tell you all this and it will never, ever be constituted as bigotry. Because we understand that you have the right to believe what you believe, no matter how stupid it is. But what you don't have the right to do is force-feed that belief system on to other people.

Gotta love the old people-who-don't-want-to-associate-with-bigots-are-bigots fallacy, just for its super-sized helping of cluelessness. My reaction to it is similar to what I get watching the Three Stooges trying to put up wallpaper.

Uh, no simply disagreeing with or not liking a group of people does not make one a bigot. I have no problem with religious people, I do not think their rights should be restricted, their practice of religion should be curbed or should be treated any differently than anyone else.

I do not "unfairly" dislike them or their ideas. It *is* possible to disagree with a person or a group and not be bigoted against them. And thinking that another group of people should not be restricted in their acts or wished into hell is he a lot more bigoted than me disagreeing with religious types in their beliefs.

Religious people are free to keep on keeping on. But their beliefs and ideas should not be used to restrict or contain a group of people who may not practice their religion. Or even if they do we shouldn't make laws based on a particular religion. Because our government, per the First Amendment, should not be respecting the establishment of a religion.

So Christians are free to say whatever they want about gay people. Go ahead. But I'm also free to say that those same people are closed-minded bigots for hating on an entire group of people simply because of whom they decide to become romantically involved with.
