A&E Taking Heat For Suspending 'Duck Dynasty's' Phil Robertson

I would like to see the show canned altogether and replaced with something that doesn't actively lower the IQ's of the viewership.
How does episodes of this good Christian loving conservative family who makes Duck Calls for a living lower the IQ's of the viewership? How does hunting ducks for your own food in front of a television camera lower IQ's of viewers? Hunting is good for people. It teaches conservatism.

Give me the Waltons over the Duck Dynasty folks anyday. John Boy Walton wasn't a bigot.

Since slavery is being discussed, I just want to state my personal beliefs on that topic. Slavery was an evil thing, a very evil thing that man created. If I was alive during those times, I would never support such a thing. It goes directly against Gods word to enslave other people.
It does? Chapter? Verse? Because I can quote chapter and verse where God condones slavery, even gives rules governing it. Goes against God's word, my ass.

What the hell are you talking about? Jesus had no influence over the status of slaves in the Roman empire. If God objected to slavery he should have gotten it on the record, because it's not in the Bible.

By changing the heart of man. The teachings of Christ and his salvation changes hearts, and that changes slavery.

Slavery has been a part of this world since the beginning. It does show the evils that us humans can be capable of.

I wish our country didn't utilize slaves, but we also were not the only country to do so. Dutch traders were huge into trading slaves in the 1600s-1800s, it was a huge thing for the Netherlands. Way before settlers came to America.

America gets a bad wrap for slavery, but it existed long before this country was founded, and in many extremes.

If you go back into the past of any country, I bet you'll find a history of usage of slaves, or slave trading.

It's not right, but this world has a history of it.

C) But yeah, political correctness is stupid, I agree with you on that.

Yawn.

If one doesn't speak out against nonsense how do we advance?

Private businesses can fire people for expressing their religious beliefs when not at work? When did they pass that law?

Private businesses can fire people in 29 states can fire people if they find out they're gay, why shouldn't they be able to fire people for hating gays.

Do you think hate is better than love?

If A&E are suspending him because they disagree with his statements, then that is wrong.

I don't care if it's a Christian saying this, or a Muslim, or a Buddhist. I'd feel the same way if a Buddhist provided their opinion based on their religion, and were shut down because someone or some network disagrees with their religious stance.

Do you think people should be punished by their employers just for being gay?

How come I haven't seen you ever protest against that?

In my opinion what the duck dude said was not wrong, or racist, or homophobic.

That's nonsense. You can provide whatever explanation for your prejudices and biases that you want, but comparing a loving consensual relationship to terrorism *is* homophobic. At least have the courage to cop to that. That *is* a homophobic, hateful, uninformed, ridiculous statement. And agreeing with it is mind-blowing.

You have no idea what you're talking about. Many gays are violently militant in nature.
Only if you wear the wrong pants with your shirt.

And, honestly, that's just a public service.

Guys. He's a troll. He said he's in favor of slavery. Come on.
No, I was in favor of the founders use of slavery. As a matter of fact, slavery was beneficial to America's growth back then since there wasn't industrialization on farms, lumber businesses, etc.

Brent says the Bible was totally against slavery. Why did you support an institution that was anti-Biblical?

Or do you guys have different interpretations of it? Could "God" possibly have written it so confusedly so as to make it unintelligible to devout followers? What kind of all powerful being would do that?

A hard concept sometimes to understand, for non-Christians and even Christians alike, is how the Bible is separated into the old and new testament.

We live in a new testament world, since Jesus's birth. This doesn't wipe away everything the old testament said, but it does change some of the rules and what is and is not sin.

For example, when Jesus was on Earth, he proclaimed that now Jewish people can eat the meats that the old testament said were unclean. Jesus proclaimed those meats now clean, so Jewish people can now eat them. Of course Jewish people don't believe Jesus is the messiah, so they don't believe that, they still operate on the rule from the old testament.

My point is, when Jesus was born, and since Christians believe he is the messiah, a lot of the rules changed from the old testament so that now we live in the new testament world. So the new testament is what we live under now, while the old testament is there as more of a guide to how things were before Jesus.

A lot of things done in the old testament had a purpose, and when that purpose was served the rule was changed when Jesus came to Earth.

Jesus changed everything, it was a big deal for how we live today. Hope that helps explain the differences :)

Actually the Bible is VERY pro-slavery, more so American slavery. It says as long as you take the slaves from another country you are fine.

But two guys in a loving relationship, that's a no no!

In the old testament, which changed when Jesus came to Earth :)

In the new testament masters were told to serve their slaves "in the same way" and "even better" as "brothers", to not threaten them as God is their Master as well.

Indeed. Based on reading your posts, I am fairly certain you fit into this category.

His birth, you say? Hmmm... doubtful.

Well, anti-gay Christians are pretty good about trying to continue to enforce Levitican laws on the subject. However, and more importantly, could you provide evidence of where in the New Testament Jesus changed these rules? Chapter/verse, maybe a quote too?

Perhaps you could discuss exactly what "under the new testament" means in relationship to the Law.

Jesus changed everything, it was a big deal for how we live today. Hope that helps explain the differences :)
Show us how this JESUS changed everything. Tell us about his teaching on the subject. Show us where HE says that homosexuality is sinful. Again, chapter/verse. I won't even ask for it in Greek.

Anything in the old testament that Jesus did not change, still stands as what God originally said.

Therefore, God stating that homosexuality is a sin in the old testament, stands, Jesus did not change that.

I noticed that Phil Robertson has tattoos. Obviously he didn't read Leviticus 19:28. I hope he enjoys eternal hellfire. Probably wears blended fabrics too, just to spit in God's face. And Heaven help him if ever touched his wife during her menstrual cycle...

What did Jesus change? Give me chapter and verse.

Don't give me a linky to a website that justifies changes to the Law based upon Pauline Epistles. Don't quote the Pauline Epistles either. I want to know what Jesus said. Paul had no Authority to change the Law.

and what of divorce?

jesus had a lot to say on that issueand the bible is against iy.

divorce rate inthe U.S is around 50% even in the fundementalist christians.

so how many of those going on about gays are still on their first marriage?

All that understanding comes later, first comes the acceptance of Jesus as savior. If you are truly interested in hearing about the hope and salvation Jesus can provide from sin, I can communicate with you through PM or otherwise. :)

I love you all, Merry Christmas

I wonder if he likes football. They work on Sundays just going "fuck you!!!" to god and touching the sinful pigskin.
