How I Met Your Mother: The Final Season

Why, what's the problem there? If you like the current show, what's to say they can't do something else similar and still entertaining? This cast made a lot of it work, but don't know what the new one is, so...?

As long as it's as was reported, and just a new group doing the similar situation (but with female lead) should work just fine. And can have the old cast pop in for cameos on occasion to help it get started.

The CONCEPT of doing the whole show again from the Mother's prespective is a neat one, but I don't want to see that version. Have to start over again in the early 2000s, just trading off the stories you already saw, etc. I don't want to see that for more than one episode, and want it part of this season.

For a new show, though, it's just keeping the bar set and the bartender/waitress maybe, and can start fresh. Would definitely give it a shot.

Rumor from earlier in the thread was same bar, just new group of friends. No relation to Ted/Mother. By reusing the bar, they can have the old gang involved on occasion, or have the new cast show up near the finale, or whatever.

If they did a show from the current mother's perspective, they'd either have to know how long it would last or they'd have to be prepared to be pretty flexible with the show's timeline so that everything could line up with meeting Ted.

There was a tweet sent out that it will new new group of people, not introduced in the finale, and a new bar.

I think it should be a new bar and in an episode the new bar burns down and has to go to the old current one.

just too much pain in the ass, gotta pretend it's 2003 again and start over, etc. It would be a fun episode, and they SHOULD do it, but for a new series, I'd much prefer a new gang having the story told to. But feel free to keep McClarens, and have the old cast pop in occasionally at first maybe, or at least available for cameos...

Or at least the new gang can start the series ragging on the old folks still hanging out in that booth :p

Good thing there are only 7 episodes to go.
As much as I once liked the show, this godawful season has me at a point where I'm practically forcing myself to keep watching it because I want to see the finale.

They, like IMDB only out what they know about, usually aired episodes and what they can get from the EMP that gets distributed

Wiki goes until episode 20, so it would have been 10 more episode, and the top of the article said 24 episodes in season 9.

Yes, I look too closely just how bad a show that I barely still give a shit about will actually get.

Where do you get 7 from?
Episode list in the Wikipedia entry for this season.

Yeah there are another 14 episodes. Last episode was the 10th, there are 24 episodes in all.
Twice the amount of shit I had resigned myself to cope with? Not sure if I'll last that long.

Then don't. If it pains you that much to "put up" with the show simply don't watch it.

I never understand why anyone forces themselves to watch a show that bugs them this much.

Because I've already watched it for over 8 years and want to see how they bring it to an end, even when the final season seems to be so bad even JJ Abrams would've rejected it.

Because let's be honest it's a cash grab. They probably had ideas for 13 episodes at most but CBS needs the young viewers. I still wish they met sooner, maybe November sweeps, and then just ignore the name of the show and show how they got engaged over the next 15 episodes.

I'm in the same boat. I want to see how the show ends after investing this much time in it but it's really becoming a chore. I kind of got to that point with Lost (to a lesser degree) but I made it to the end.

They can still do that through flash-forwards without compromising what the show's all about. With this season, they managed to have their cake and eat it too.

Then read up about it on the net.. i've done that with Lost for example wich "lost" (damn puns) me in season 3 and when i read up about it on Wikipedia i realized it was a wise choice.

Personally it's ok.. the start of the season was ok to very good and i had high hopes. Now a good while in they are treading water and are offering one filler episode after the other with few good scenes in them but at this point i just don't care that much to get angry.

Anyway.. i've spent 22 minutes a week for dumber reasons so who cares.
