Casting a Gender-Switched Enterprise

For Uhura I nominate Shemar Moore from Criminal Minds.

Simply because he is so pretty (and ripped).

Maybe he and the female Spock can have an affair.

Just as a fun thought exercise:

Supposing you were tasked with creating a new Trek show and that, during the casting process, the network execs decide to go after a different market and demand -- demand, I say -- that you gender-flip the roles of Kirk, Spock and Bones.

Which actresses do you cast to play the gender-switched characters?

Kylie Minogue

OH and Please lets not waste the beautiful beyond measure Alexander Skarsgard on Rand! Unless we suddenly make him verrrrrry important.

T'Girl, nicely played. That's a pitch-perfect choice.

And that's some epic stuff all around from Locutus: Kelly McDonald and Michelle Trachtenberg especially are perfect. :) And you remembered Lt. Kyle! I never remember Lt. Kyle.

Upon further reflection, I would definitely cast Michelle Dockery - but, as Scotty. That's how I see her. By the way, another interesting recast graphic! I would LOVE to see Parker Posey in Gender-Flip Star Trek, but I would recast her, too ... as Amanda Grayson! You know, the more I see this concept being mulled over, I'm becoming ever-more convinced that Big Jake did Stumble Upon(TM) a very real solution for the next Trek. One with the potential to become the most successful series of the franchise!

I think you should make it Riley instead of Kyle and that way Kylie can sing I'll take you home again, Kathleen.

It still works because Riley and Kylie rhyme :D

A few more picks for Team Jake:

Maggie Q as Hiromi Sulu (w/ apologies to Locutus):

Olga Kurylenko as Yulia Chekhov

YellowSubmarine: I don't know if that's genius or madness. But I like it. Especially Patrick Stewart as the male Troi and the Most Disturbing Crushers Ever.

I prefer "Leona." But that's just me.

I also think it would be cute if Bones hyphenated her last name with her former husband's name, like: Leona McCoy-Henson. It speaks well and implies deep hurt and inability to let go of her failed marriage, which can only add to the ... to the ... the "texture" of this character. What's more, her daughter Joanna should be a highschool student, living with her father, who reports on her father's many flings. After reading such reports, we see Bones in her quarters, eating a tub of Neapolitan ice cream and watching the teley ... with a handy box of Kleenix, close at hand. In walks Jamie Kirk who, upon realization of the situation, sits by Bones and gives her a big hug and tells her what a beautiful and worthy woman she is ... as they begin joking about Mr. Henson's shortcomings. All that girly kind of shit that encourages slash and would never be able to fly in TOS, as we know it ... Oh, yes, "Leona" will work out fine. Just fine ...
