Yes, but no mention of Izzy. (RTD's favorite companion.) Or Fitz. (The Doctor's bestest friend.) Or Benny. (The eighth Doctor's OTP.)

Certainly the Time War fanon of a million Whovians just got flushed down the toilet. :)

    I couldn't be happier.

No, wait. I could. I could be happier if the eighth Doctor had lived to a ripe old age and regenerated not from trauma or adventure but a full life lived.

But that was probably never in the cards, except in my dreams.

Is this then a suggestion of the fix for more regenerations.

The Sisters could have given him a new cycle if they are as they say more advanced than time lords when it comes to regenerations.

    So, everybody's happy.

Calls for Moffat's head for making the numbering of the Doctors now wrong by one, and Capaldi the 13th Doctor in 3,2,1...

(Though this would mean that giving the Xmas special the title Twelfth Night would fit even better, I must say)

Well remember the whole point is that Hurt isn't the Doctor, like he says "Doctor no more". Sure it's sleight of hand, and screws up regenerations if there is a 12 regen limit, but it doesn't actually stop Eccleston being 9, Tennant 10 and Smith 11...

    Maybe!

By the way, I love the War Doctor title, presumably a call back to the War Chief.

Processing... Still processing... Brain imploding... I've watched it three times now.. The grin on my face when I saw Paul made my cheeks hurt...

All the timey whimey stuff with which regeneration is which and how many will sink in later, but for now, I'm amazingly energized for the 50th...

    YEAH!!!

So, how long before the elation fades and calls for Moffat's head on a Pike start up again because he "Screwed up everyone's idea of who and how The Time War went down"?

I think we all know some posters who will twist this so as to make it negative in some way. At the moment though I'm enjoying the warm positivity of this thread!

Yea, I suspect he'll need to clean himself (And the walls) up after watching that  I made the mistake of watching after I dressed for work, and had to change my clothes :alienblush:

Any other year I might have squeed or might have cringed, but this year I just really too broken to really...*feel* anything about a TV show. Or much of anything else, really.

I can't remember the last time a television program blew me away like that.

Well to be fair I'm hardly the greatest McGann fan in the world and I was very excited...

Thats a shame, hope you come out the other side of it.

Not sure you should be reading The Sleep Room, it's a bit depressing!

HOLY CRAP HOLY CRAP HOLY CRAP PAUL McGANN HOLY CRAP!

Paul McGann is, and always has been, my Doctor. I can't believe this! If you had told me this yesterday, I would have laughed at you.

    I'm freaking out! HOLY CRAP

    He even mentioned Charley!!!!

This is the only time I've seen McGann as The Doctor, and I have to say that in the 6 minutes of him, I'm pretty impressed. I need to find that movie somewhere.

This was my reaction too. They explained things well enough for the new fans of the show to understand and I was greatly entertained by it. It does make me want to go see the movie now. I'm very much now looking forward to the 50th.

I thought the same thing but as Allyn says...

True, I noticed that as well, although, at first, I thought I heard him say "Mary" but I had my volume down at work. I tend to think it's not an inclusive list. Erimem, Amy/Abby and Thomas aren't in The Caves of Androzani (for obvious reasons, of course) but they're certainly important people to The Fifth Doctor.

Oh, cool, I didn't even think of that. Nice call back, intentional or not. If it is, that's two Terrance Dicks scripts referred to in this minisode.

I knew you would be happy about this. More so than Green Lantern.

As a TerriO pointed out on Facebook, Steven Moffat has now written (or currently writing) for seven different incarnations of The Doctor, which I'm pretty sure is more than any other writer. Terrance Dicks and Robert Holmes are the closest with six and five incarnations, respectively, but I can't think of anyone else who might rival them.

Well, if you can't purchase it, or watch it on Netflix, here it is streaming on Dailymotion

    Part 1

    Part 2

EMH, 7 different incarnations? Eccelston, Tennant, Smith, Davison, McGann (And I suppose you are counting Capaldi also?), who's #7?

ETA: Oh, DUH, nevermind :alienblush: HurtDoctor
