I've read some of his origins and I understand his motivations, but he still seems to me like a copy of Invictus in some respects. Volthoom was a more interesting antagonist to me because he has so much power and he's utterly sadistic and twisted with it, and that power makes him a more dire threat because he can harness the energy of the emotional spectrum. That's not to say Volthoom couldn't be integrated better as theenglish suggests. I'd have to read more before I can judge.

Well, I do think Volthoom became far more entertaining when I realized how Q-like he is, and started reading all his dialogue with John De Lancie's voice.

I was extremely disappointed with the First Lantern storyline. Particularly since the majority of the series was waste of time "what if your life went this way" stories.

Finally read this and I'm going to miss Johns when he's gone.

I just hope Parker doesn't destroy everything that Johns has set up. He has a nasty habit of that.

Read Aquaman #24 and agreed. The culmination of Johns work with the origin of Atlantis and the "true King" storyline has been awesome. I'm gonna give Parker a chance, but he'll be on a short leash.

Finally read Justice League #24 and absolutely loved Ultraman's New 52 origin. I always thought he should have been from basically a Mirror Universe type Krypton, also loved the Mirror Universe like twist on the conditioning programming from "Superman: The Movie".

Forever Evil #3 was interesting. The heroes got sucked into Firestorm, haha. Interesting that Bats and Cats slipped away in the confusion and were never in the jail. Even with so little time to prepare :p Finch's art occasionally had some messed up faces in it.

Superman Unchained #4 was solid. Jim Lee's art looked great, maybe because of that extra month to work on it... :p

So to risk dealing with the horrible mess that is DCU continuity now... I'm thinking at this point that No Man's Land never happened, and Zero Year is replacing that in the history. Because the entire Court of Owls storyline is predicated on all these ancient buildings still being around, and in the Quake only Waynetech buildings were quake-proofed. Thus, Zero Year replaces it as that horrible time in Gotham's past that chaos ruled the streets.

The best way to treat previous continuity is to assume the events DID NOT happen until we are told that they did in the comic book universe. Even then, they did not happen in exactly the way they appeared pre-52.

For me I like to think the nu52 is the alternate reality and we'll find our way back to "reality".
No Man's Land was an awesome story.

I wouldn't be surprised if you get your wish after next year's "ten years later" event.

So lemme get this straight, the entire continuity is going to jump forward five years? So that they've now been around for ten years? IE, exactly the way it was before Flashpoint? Which was such a terrible thing that they had to erase/alter the entire continuity?

We don't know very much about The Five Years Later gimmick/arc if it will be permanent or just September's monthly event and a weekly book attempt again...but yeah if it is a plot device to fast forward things, then just exactly has been the point of the relaunch? I thought one of the main things was to establish a "fresh, new, and young" universe so to draw "new" readers? It'll be interesting to see what this actually is for when we get further details.
