Groundhogday. "Maybe God has just been around along time and he knows everything?" Seriously, if you know how to roll with it, time loops can be very enjoyable.
So you all wanted Tuvok and Neelix to leave the show and be replaced by extremely creepy Tuvix. Five seasons of smarmy creepy ass Tuvix. With, of course, the obligatory pon farr episode just to ramp up the smarmy creepiness even further.
It was a guilt trip. Besides he said that he forgave them for doing the wrong thing. What sort of crazy person forgives you doing the right thing? If you're doing the right thing, you don't have to be forgiven.
They could have worked around it. Russ and Ethan could have been used as slightly different (Clones, holograms, robots, temporal refugees, mirror universe refugees.) versions of Neelix and Tuvok or even completely different characters under a shit load of completely different latex.
The main reason so many folks complain over Tuvix is because they just hated Tuvok and Neelix to start with and wanted them gone. If this was TOS and it was Spock and McCoy fused together, with the possibility of losing both characters, no one would mind getting them back.
Exactly, no one cared they killed off David and more or less ditched Saavik as long as it meant getting Spock back.
"Klingon bastards killed my Son" is one of the best lines in Trek and totally worth the trade off, if you continue to account for the ramifications come home to roost in the trial from The Unknown Country.
There was no trade off, not a single person in the viewing audience was attached to David. Anwar I must ask though.. people hated Tuvok?
I hate Tuvok? That's a new one. I guess when you go around putting words in other people's mouths, things like accuracy are small, especially when you can just smear them.
So is NuKirk peak human, or post human and what will that mean for NuDavid if Khan's DNA went straight to Daddy's sack to renovate his cherries into a Superman factory?
But just wait until Spock says that exact same line about his son in nuTrek 3. It will be a much better line then. Such a cool twist it will be. Louder and more emotional.
David was around longer than Tuvix, yet here we are still talking about Tuvix. Why is David's death less? Maybe they didn't hate Tuvok, but they hated Neelix. It had nothing to do with connection to Tuvix as much as it was dislike of Neelix.
