    @Albertese - Thanks :)

    And now the TOS Starships chart has these types to scale:

    Dreadnaught, Pre-Pike Enterprise, Enterprise, Reliant, Constellation, Destroyer I & II, Scout I & II, Defiant and Tug/Transport. Whew!

    Outstanding work. I can't help but if the pre-Pike design inspired by early drawing might also have influenced the Revell Germany http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rPLpaB35wOQ

    The 1/350 has the gentle slope on the saucer as per Kerr's plans. On the Revell, the saucer dome beneath the B/C decks is more abrupt.

    I just stumbled across this thread. The things you miss when you're gone a while.

    Truly fantastic work, blssdwlf... any plans to pursue any of it any further?

    @Praetor - Thanks :)

    Yes, eventually I'd like to also model out:

    Mudd's J-Class ship and/or J-Class training ship Pike was wounded on.
    The Antares from Charlie-X
    The Constellation and Doomsday Machine
    The Lexington, Excalibur, Potemkin and Hood
    The Aurora cruiser from The Way to Eden
    The Tholian ship from The Tholian Web
    The Romulan Bird of Prey from The Balance of Terror
    Space Station K-7
    and lastly the Klingon Battlecruiser (because it'll be the toughest due to it's shapes.)

    And then texture them all :)

    I admire your ambition in addition to your talent, then. ;)

    Do you plan to use the TOS-R designs for the J-class and the Antares, or create new ones?

    @Praetor - I'm going to use the original FX design for Mudd's ship. Since they (Mudd's and the Starfleet ship Pike was injured on) were both J-Class I might take a shot at making them the same look but one commercial looking and the other more Starfleet.

    The Antares will probably be like the one seen in TOS-R or perhaps more like the TAS? version.

    How will you depict the "Planet Killer" (aka the "Doomsday Machine")? "Screen accurate" to the original foil and cellophane wrapped miniature? Spinrad's "hoped for" bio-mechanical nightmare with tentacles and a surface "bristling" with weapons? Or something from your own (fevered?) imagination?

    Sincerely,

    Bill

    @Redfern -

    Hi Bill, my first instinct would be screen accurate. Was there a concept drawing of Spinrad's monster version?

    Cheers,
    Peter

    Eh, there was "something" scribbled upon a napkin or other scrap piece of paper. It looked rather like the doodle made by a 4 year old suffering cataracts and drawn with his feet because his hands were tied behind his back. Spinrad admitted he was not an illustrator.

    Sincerely,

    Bill

    For the J, is that like this one? I guess the J was like the mid-23rd century version of the Oberth or the Raven type.

    For the Antares, something about just adding that module on to the front of her for TOSR never sat right with me. Obviously the implication is "If you take a drone and add a habitat module, you get a starship." Which I guess is fine, it's just the result wasn't particularly elegant. There may be an opportunity here to elegant it up. ;)

    That was stated hilariously. :rommie:

    I was afraid we'd had a newbie necro on our hands again, but it's always good to see a member return - and with an update nonetheless! I love the design, would've made for a good contender in last month's challenge. Welcome back!
