Holy crap that was awful!! Just what we were hoping for. The best scene of course was: Spoiler: Best Scene of All Time Ian Ziering flying through the air with a chainsaw into the shark's mouth, killing the shark AND somehow managing to cut out the still living waitress inside. That scene alone made the whole thing worthwhile. Tara Reid can't act at all. At least Ziering seemed to be trying. John Heard's drunken barstool swinging...what the hell happened to him? The CGI could not have been worse. All in all, a perfect bad, cheesy movie. We all laughed our heads off.
Sharknado was bad in all the typical Asylum ways-- nonexistent plot, random dialogue, awkward post-production overdubs, terrible editing, sloppy special effects et cetera-- so I don't understand why it got more hype than anything else. This one didn't even have a good cast. John Heard was good, but his character was killed off too soon; although I think the guy who played the son did have some personality. I did get a kick out of the over-the-top antics, of course-- cars and swimming pools that explode for no reason, shooting flying sharks out of the sky with a pistol, house on top of the hill that explodes from the pressure of water that apparently runs uphill-- but it was nowhere near as entertaining as other movies of its type. Blast Vegas was much better. That one was more like what I can an A-List B-Movie.
I think it's just the incredibly corny premise (and title) that attracted people to this movie. It's bad in all the right ways, I'm about 25 minutes into it right now and laugh my ass off. And when did Tara Reid actually get somewhat good looking? Did she get some corrective plastic surgery; this time not done in the back of some guy's Econoline van? EDIT Ah. I take that back. I see Tara Reid's reanimated plastic corpse is still "intact" at first I thought she was the barmaid that was hitting on Ian Zerring which, yeah, I don't know why I thought that given the batmaid was hot, not blonde, and didn't exactly look like or sound like Reid but it was the only female character up to that point, so... It's early for me, shut-up.
A reasonable mistake. Nova the warrior waitress was basically the female lead, despite the fact that Tara Reid got top billing. I can see someone assuming that the waitress had to be the star . . . . This is a not uncommon phenomenon in Syfy movies, where some "name" actor gets top billing even though they're only playing a supporting role, with most of the heavy lifting done by less famous actors.
"Why won't the car start?" Ian Zeiring: "I dunno, it must be flooded." Erm.... Ian? Modern, fuel-injected, cars don't get flooded.
Just when you thought it was safe... http://www.examiner.com/article/sharknado-falls-into-theaters Are you one of the lucky ones?
Yeah, sorta.... but a terrible movie at midnight at a location 30 minutes away? Yeah, I don't think so.
Tara Reid's take on the whale shark is pretty hilarious. Good thing she's hot. [yt]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9CNwrEtrYFM[/yt]
She was much better looking before she had all of those cosmetic surgeries in the back of homeless man's van.
