    Hey There.

Its clear to me that If I ever hope to finish voyager in my lifetime, I'll have to skip over a great deal of the filler episodes

(watching them all would be like traveling from the Delta quadrant myself ).

So in effort to find a few wormhole, slipstream, transwarp shortcuts, Ive put together the following as the episodes I think seem required watching to get the best voyager experience, sans the guilty pleasure filler fluff:

IN THIS ORDER (since i started this while in season 5)

    Season 5 - "Dark Frontier"
Season 5 - "Someone to watch over me"

    Season 5 - F "Equinox part ONE"
    Season 6 - 1 "Equinox part two"

Season 6 - "One Small Step"
    Season 6 - "Voyager Conspiracy"
    Season 6 - "Pathfinder"

Season 6 - "Tsunkatse" (has the rock in it)

Season 6 - "FURY" (Kes returns)
    Season 6 - "Life Line"
    Season 7 - Q2
    Season 7 - Friendship One
    Season 7 - Homestead
    Season 7 - Endgame

Any thoughts? Any episodes not here that you think are critical to completion of the series? (ie Tuvok losing control and killing say neelix.. but 7 using nanoprobes to bring him back to life before the series finale?)

If you're going through for your first time watch them all. It's not like there's a time limit on it, they'll always be there. If you're rewatching, watch what you like. You don't need someone else to make a list for you.

You have "Tsunkatse" on the list, but not "Timeless" or "Drone" or "Counterpoint"?

Don't get me wrong, I'm one of the few round these parts who thinks "Tsunkatse" is a decent episode, but seriously...

If you haven't watched all the way through, just do it. It's not like you have to finish them this week or anything.

Force yourself to watch all the episodes. Hate VOY like the rest of us when you are done! ;)

Seriously, if this is your first time watching the show you should see all of it. I would never suggest anyone skip anything during their first time watching a show. Watch the good and the bad, making up your own mind about them. You can skip episodes if you ever rewatch.

This was after counterpoint that i put this list together.. If timeless is after that or drone, i skipped it for a reason

The filler episodes dont drive the story and dont add any new perspectives to the characters or the plot.. Thats always been voyagers biggest flaw..

I am rewatching but i never watched all the episodes in the first place...Case in point, the good are so far and few between and the bad so numerous that im at a point that Im losing interest in the whole series.

This list was an attempt to have the best of the Season 5+ episodes put into a greatest hits list and skip over all the rest.

Equinox from S5 and S6 are a good example.. Completely pointless episode and anti-climatic finish. Think back to the TNG 2 part series where data's head got found in a cave under san francisco.. Then watch this bilge and tell me im wrong.

.. (and if i see one more goddamn episode with voyager single handedly outflanking 50 borge cubes im going to beat a motherfucker with another motherfucker..)

After DS9 and TNG Season4+ its getting too hard to stomach voyagers yarning and guilty pleasure island attitude.

You ask for thoughts then get snippy when you don't like the answer you get? Next time don't ask then.

You're missing some essential episodes like someone said, "Drone".

I tend to like deep story lines and/or comedy. Also my favorite episodes for season 5-7 are mainly Seven or Doc episodes.

Some of my faves from 5~7:
    Drone
    Tinker, Tenor, Doctor, Spy
    Counterpoint
    Someone To Watch Over Me
    Bride of Chaotica
    Critical Care
    Riddles
    Unimatrix 0 (1/2)
    Child's Play
    Imperfection
    Body and Soul
    Workforce (1/2)

Also...yeah...if you are watching for the first time, I would watch them all. No one is timing you.

Bride of Chaotica is a lot of fun, but if you've never seen old movie serials like Flash Gordon, Buck Rogers, and Republic's Rocketman character, some of it may be incomprehensible. The Captain Proton holoprogram appears briefly in other episodes, but gets the full treatment here. It's sort of a cross between Buster Crabbe's Flash Gordon serials, and Republic's "Radar Men from the Moon" or "Zombies of the Stratosphere" (the latter with 21 yr old Leonard Nimoy in a small role as a Martian).

lost in the Delta Quadrant, I think
    Wow...

In that case, I absolutely MUST recommend Threshold. You have to watch it - all the way through. In fact, you should even go back and re-watch the parts involving Tom's transfiguration. ;P

I don't know who you are, but you are like my clone (at least, if you were to go by taste in Star Trek and episodes from the Voyager series) so far as I've noticed from your posts here. I think it is interesting you like Workforce 1/2 and Unimatrix 1/2 - does that mean you like only the first part? Those were a couple of two-part episodes I didn't particularly like, but thinking about it now, it may be solely due to their 2nd parts. Voyager actually had a lot of two-parters that seemed to "fall flat" for me... with an exception or two.

Also, and you don't have to respond to anything I say, but why have you only listed episodes from seasons 5-7? Did you like that portion of the show more?

I'm by no means trying to contradict your point, I just wanted to add that I haven't seen any of the old movie serials you mentioned and I still enjoyed this episode immensely. I almost didn't recognize Janeway! =O She looked so... Adams-family-esque!

I also thought I might add, I have this funny hunch that Voyager is the Star Trek series that is "for girls." >_> And when I say that, I mean it in only the best way.

As a Star Trek series, Voyager has almost all of my favorite characters in it, and, oddly enough, almost all of them happen to be female. ;)

Not a problem, I was just being cautious. There are a lot of visual jokes in terms of production design for those familiar with the older films.

IMO, you can't appreciate the beauty in life if you haven't seen the shit around it aswell.

So, if you want to really love the good episode, you should suffer through the bad aswell. My gf and I watched all of Voyager a year ago, her first viewing. Some of the later episodes were new for me as well, since I sort of gave up on VOY at the beginning of season 6 and only saw a handfull of seasons 6 and 7. Now, we are sort of watching it again, but skipping the ones we really, really hated.

No, no...I did not mean that at all. I meant Parts 1 AND 2! :D I would never watch a part 1 and then not the part 2! Never!

And I only listed my faves from seasons 5~7 because that is was the OP asked for. I have another list somewhere of my favorites from the entire series.

I like all 7 seasons. However, I tend to rewatch more from 5~7. They are more like two seperate shows for me, kind of. So I have my favorites from 1~3 and then also from 5~7.

One of my faves from the early ones is Future's End. I love Sarah Silverman's character. And I'm a fan of Ed Begley Jr.

how can you talk about not adding anything when you haven't seen them?
the "filler episodes" as you call them are often ones that give you insight into the characters

honestly I'd say stop watching all together. You seem like you alraedy have a negative mind set against the show and you are set on not likeing anything

Personally I think Voyager had a lot of episodes that provided new perspectives to the characters. The character development was one of my favorite things about the show. I never clicked with the characters from the other shows

Even if you're only looking at season 5 and on there are a lot of great character building episodes
    Drone
    Extreme Risk
    Infinite Regress
    30 days
    Latent Image
    Gravity
    Dark Frontier
    The Disease
    Juggernaut
    Someone to Watch Over Me
Those are just off the top of my head

"Drone" is one of my favorite VOY episodes out of any season.
