Anyone else reading/read Star Trek and History?

From the people who brought us the Pop Culture and Philosophy series comes a new series focusing on Pop Culture and History and Star Trek is the focus of one of it's first titles.

I have it, but haven't read it yet.

Is it worth my time?

Well not to be pedantic but since I don't know you very well I can't really say. But what I will say is I definitely am finding it to be worth my time. The articles offer great variety of approach and quite frankly I would say the book has been worth it just for the article showing how the producers of TOS' views on Vietnam transformed over the course of three years as demonstrated by four episodes.

While the tone is scholarly and critical (in this case in the classic sense not simply meaning negative) at the same time the writing is accessible and the authors are quite clearly fans of the franchise.

I'm highly enjoying it and am hoping that there might be enough interest and material for a second book (which I'm not holding my breath on admittedly as the publisher hasn't done a second volume of any of their pop culture and psychology books) or at the very least more books on other shows.
