It's being recorded for tv broadcast (at some, so far, undisclosed time), but if you want to listen to this year's Doctor Who Prom it's on BBC Radio 3 this weekend. http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b036ts7t
Nice. SO its an all DW show this year instead of "Mostly DW with a few standard classical pieces slipped in" Nice. I'll be all over this thing, and looking for a downloadable version afterwards.
I hope hope hope Katherine Jenkins performs "Abigales Song" Or at least "The Rings of Akhenten" by that little girl. Those are on my wishlist
I just heard a radio interview with Murray Gold. There's going to be a new song for the 50th Anniversary that is going to premiere at the Proms. Also, did he accidentally let slip, at around the 13th minute mark, that there's going to be a new executive producer?
Sorry to disappoint, but there will be some classical pieces in there too: http://www.bbc.co.uk/proms/whats-on/2013/july-13/14610 I guess it's an attempt to introduce kiddies to some traditional stuff.
Yep. But a better way would be to actually include the traditional stuff in the show. Like they did with the Habanera aria in "Asylum of the Daleks." And then include the full pieces in each season's soundtrack albums.
Dang it...I see the title of this thread and it keeps registering as "Doctor Who Porn". Sincerely, Bill
Meh. Always my least favorite part of these shows. I guess they're just trying to keep the classical purists from bitching. Or else they have a rule that a certain percentage of the performance has to be proper classical music.
I'm actually going to be there for once - I had a Convention the next day in London - and was able to get a ticket for the Prom too. Gonna be a hot day though...
11 minute fifth anniversary song to be previewed http://www.denofgeek.com/tv/doctor-who/26382/doctor-who-murray-gold-teases-50th-prom-song
I'm not certain of the validity of this report, but the next Doctor may be revealed tonight at the Proms.
Some nice live prerformances of clasic era scores on right now - The Daleks, Tomb, Sea Devils, City of Death, and currently Logopolis. Presumably about to go into Davison, Clin and Sylv... oh, Five Doctors just starting!
