Superman (casting, rumors, pix till release)

While this film may not have 100% chance of a sequel at the moment, there will be more Superman films down the road.

Well, sure there will be. But will it be 3 years from now with this cast or 10 years from now in another reboot? How about we wait until, first of all, seeing if this movie performs well enough for a sequel before discussing one. Because right now what is there to say about it?

This film has a 99% chance of a direct sequel right now.
No doubt. And any idea that this film not being a money making juggernaut would crimp the possibility of a new Superman film is nonsense. The character brings in money from too many sources to need worry that one film might not do as well as hoped.

I'd wait at least until Monday. Could be some kind of official announcement, although these kinds of things are hard to tell from Warner Brothers/DC Ent. Besides which this thread has existed for three years...mostly because of the push back from last summer, but still that's a long time for a news thread! LOL

No one is seriously arguing that there won't be a sequel, just there is no ACTUAL news to report right now about the sequel. The new MOS2 topic would just be full of "Wow! MOS did great!" posts.

I'm not saying there's news to talk about regarding a sequel, nor that a new thread should be started, just that a sequel is close to a 100% certainty already.

"Man of Steel" made $21 million yesterday with the advance screenings. "Iron Man 3" did 24 or so. MOS is currently projected to do 160 million over this weekend if they continue the pace.

The Walmart promotion throws that comparison off a bit. With the way the Friday number is shaping up, MOS is looking at a Friday to Sunday weekend in the range of $125 million or $137 million with the Thursday promotion included.

Check out this blurb from my local paper:

Don't fear skipping

"Should you skip Man of Steel?" asks USA Today, referring to Zack Snyder's new Henry Cavill-starring Superman movie, which has been showered with critical negativity. Follow your conscience.

According to reports "Man of Steel" pulled in $44 million yesterday and is on it's way to pulling in around $130 million.

How long are we going to keep this thread around for now that the review and discussion thread has been around for a few days? There's not going to be really any more news or anything regarding this film? Unless we're keeping this for a non-spoiler review thread or something?

Seeing it this afternoon. Excited :)

Didn't realise mixed reviews mean showered with critical negativity  and only from stuffy critics & not movie goers. If I was WB I would take issue with them and any other paper mis reporting especially if it could affect turnout = $$$
