Been going in and out of there for about a lifetime now. ;) So, of course, I love it there.

    Citi Field is pretty nice.

Well, I did in March, when my Dad and I did about a month long cross-country trip to California and visited many national parks and monuments along the way. It was an amazing trip :)

Normally, I make a trip to some European city with my partner for the summer vacation (sightseeing, museum crawling, trying new food and drinks... the usual stuff), but since the arrival of the kid we had to cut that, at least until he's a bit older.

So, like last year, I'm going to enjoy some time relaxing at a spa in the Venetian countryside with my family. Nothing too fancy, but very nice.

    Comeee hereee in Italyyy!

Glad you're still finding a way to relax. And I very much want to visit Italy and it's a little bit of a sore spot with me. The ex was supposed to take me and never did, and I tried to be patient while watching many of my friends and all my family visit. Now I don't know if I'll ever see Italy. But I'd really like to, someday.

Yes. We (my family and I), will be traveling to Gatlinburg, TN next month. I expect to get sunburn, even if it is overcast the whole time. I also expect to blind everyone with my exceedingly white skin, because I AM wearing shorts. :D

Aw, that sucks. Well, plan a trip to the Most Serene Republic of San Marino, and you can tell yourself you are not visiting Italy. ;)

I went to Minneapolis for a few days a couple of weeks ago. That will probably be it for this year.

I'm visiting my family in Seattle as I do most summers. I'm going in 2 1/2 weeks, so I'll be there for my nephew's first birthday (July 2nd) and for the 4th. I wish I could travel more but I can't afford it and get only 2 weeks off a year. :(

The sequestor has curbed my plans of doing any major traveling with the family. We are trying to find cheap getaways at the moment. My parents own a condo in the Outer Banks and if not rented would be a nice week long trip to the beach.

^The only reason I'd go to Vegas is TAM, and even then it would be a challenge. Too much noise and lights and just everything horrible! I had a layover there once, and while it was fun to fly in over the strip at night (which looked like Candyland) even the airport overwhelmed me!

I've never had any desire to go to Vegas. The weather is unrelenting. I don't have any desire to gamble. The shows aren't my thing and the place is crawling with people behaving at their worst. I wouldn't mind using Vegas as a stepping stone to see Hoover Dam and some of the desrt scenery. I'm sure a highrise view of the city at night would be attractive but its just not enough to get me in plane while simultaneously emptying my bank account.

^Exactly. I'm happy for people who like it and want to go, but it holds absolutely no appeal for me whatsoever. It is so off-putting, that even though I've always wanted to go to TAM, I don't know if I could handle Vegas!

When it gets hot, I'm going to put my bathing suit on and douse myself with the garden hose outside. Then I'll sit in the swing till I dry off. And that'll be my "staycation".

We did a driving trip with two other families to Gatlinburg when I was young. I have great memories of that trip and I loved Gatlinburg itself. I'd like to go back sometime.

I'm not sure why I love Vegas so much, but my parents first took us there when I was in 6th grade and I've loved it ever since. I don't like gambling and I'm not hugely into drinking or clubs or anything flashy, but I still really love the city. I do enjoy the shows, the food, the shopping, the themed hotels, the lights of the strip, and of course, the people-watching. I can understand why it's not for everyone though.

Your trip sounded really awesome, and I'm glad you had such a good time. It was definitely a unique experience. :)

Yes, Kestra. It was an awesome experience, and it actually gave me more of an appreciation for what's around me. Would I do it again? Hell yes. :) In fact, we're already thinking of doing it again in roughly 2 years. Santa Barbara is beautiful. I miss it already. The 1 week we spent there didn't seem nearly enough, but we had a long road ahead of us.

I've visited Vegas three times since 2008. It's fun, but the more I've gone, the less interested I've become. One primary reason to visit is to see a friend who lives out there. The spectacle of the casinos, the lights, the sounds, the shows, etc. is all fun... at first. But ultimately, the place is all flash and very little substance. I am not sure that I am going to rush back anytime soon.

Speaking of Vegas, we went through there on St. Patrick's Day, and was it ever rowdy. The streets were in full-on party mode. Must have been quite amusing for them to see a vehicle bumbling along with a 13' trailer.

^^ That was a fantastic picture. I'd love to do the rounds of the National Parks.

I've been to Las Vegas once, on my way to the Grand Canyon. Basically, the cheapest way to get to the canyon was to fly to Vegas and drive across the desert. Everything in Vegas is pretty cheap. I stayed one night, visited the casino, took a look around-- I didn't get to see any shows. It looked great at night, but was bleak in the daytime. And it was hot-- 80-something degrees at midnight the night I arrived.
