Well I had promised myself that I wouldn’t start anything new. So much for that. Just had a flash of an idea for what a Romulan ship might look like during the beginning of the Romulan Wars so I blocked it in real fast. Since I might have a new gig I can’t talk about at the moment I don’t know how much work I’ll be able to get done on this. Or any of my other projects.
That he's forgotten the ship from the Chronology does not preclude him remembering it subconsciously. XFozzboute, you are off to a good start.
Awesome ! XFozzboute, If you need some ideas for this, let me know, I would love to help out with this one
Thanks man. I'm still thinking about that Tholian ship you sent me. I'm gonna try and get more work on her if I can find the time.
UPDATE... Did a little work on the engines. The pics are bigger than I normally do because I rendered them on my new machine while I was rendering pics of my spacestation on the old one.
UPDATE... Things are starting to come together here. I’m really starting to dive into what Max 2014 can do and I’m enjoying it. I’m getting more done on the warp engines and getting the shape of the wings about were I want them. I’ve also added impulse engines and I think the shuttle bay will be stuck in there underneath. I’ve also merged the two halves of the main hull together.
UPDATE... I’ve added more detail to the wings and a fin. Not sure about the fin I like it but I don’t know if it works.
I like the fin and I think you should keep it, but it looks like it's curving upwards in the pic. If that's the case, I'd make the upper edge a straight horizontal line, the upwards curve doesn't look right to me.
How far are you going to take the bird motif? Some sort of bird's head at the front might look cool but also might end up looking dangerously silly.
I have to add my voice to affirming that the fin is cool (and not just because Romulan starships+fins=cool), though I think that the fin shouldn't be arcing upwards. A nice, flat fin, like on the tail end of one of the Excelsior II's nacelles, would be a simple, elegant design element. And at this point in time, I think that vessels with simply elegant design elements are for the best.
I say This is perfect! The ship as she stands now is very retro, but lends itself well for looking very space-age, with her hard lines combined with the subtle curves, just spectacular. as always mate Nicely done!
