Star Trek Stardate Collection

I've been trying to find out, but can anyone tell me if these are the original theater versions of the movies that have been remastered, or are they the Director's Editions on BluRay?

I've just bought a BR player, and this set would be the best way for me to buy the entire set of TOS/TNG movies on BR, but I'd love to know what versions they are.

Hm.... I do have the Director's Edition for TMP on DVD, so having the theatrical version on BR could be fun.... However, I'd love to have the other versions in Director's Edition, since I don't own any of the TOS movies on dvd.

If it helps, aside from TMP, TWOK and TUC, the rest of the "Directors Edition" DVDs are really just Special Editions and don't add or change anything of the movie itself.

I do asume that the BR version of TWOK and TUC don't have the additional scenes, like the scenes with Scotty's nephew in TWOK, or the colonel West scenes from TUC?

Correct, since they are the theatrical releases.

So I've kept my DE DVDs of TMP, TWOK and TUC for completest sake.

Hmm.... I'll have to think about it then. I would love to have the versions with those scenes on BR, but you never know when we might get those.

Yep only if/when Paramount thinks they can make a quick buck on 'em. Their total lack of interest/respect for the Trek movies is pretty frustrating and dismaying when you compare it to how well CBS is treating the television properties.

Ah yes, of course. I actually have the two you posted on DVD, and am considering upgrading them to blu-ray - if I do, will definitely go for the Stardate collections, seems easily the best value for money.

Thank you :)

Well, I just ordered the set, so I can comment on it tomorrow. Curious to compare this with the dvd's, even though I only have TMP:DE and the four TNG movies on dvd.

The BDs are from the same masters as the DVD sets that were released at the same time, so the difference is not as huge as if you'd compare the BDs to the old DVD editions. But the resolution is of course better.

Coming in September 2013, is the Stardate Collection, on DVD and BluRay. This Box Set features a new release of all ten prime universe Star Trek movies (from TMP to Nemesis).

the Stardate Collection, on DVD and bluray. This is the latest release of all ten prime movies, exactly the same as the sets already released in Europe earlier in the year.
Finally all the prime movies are also getting individual DVD releases. The most popular films got separate releases back in 2009, and now it seems the rest of the series is being filled out. Additionally they are releasing all ten films as five two-movie sets.

Does this mean these masters won't have so much DNR added before the compression encoding for Blu-ray?

I was thinking of buying all 10 movies today but decided not to hoping to find a better deal online somewhere so I'll just wait for this. I'd rather have the movies all in one box instead of in two.

I don't remember what the collections were called but one box had all 6 TOS movies and the other set had the TNG ones.

Yup, those were released a while ago. And those two boxes have now been re-released as ONE box, with new packaging, called The Stardate Collection.

So, if you want the 6 TOS movies and 4 TNG movies, on BR, in one box, buy The Stardate Collection.
