Plus after the release of the new movie, and the nonstop discussion about that, it's hard not to be a bit burnt out on Trek altogether.
It was quite a month though!

Yeah I admit the novelty has worn off somewhat. It's hard to be quite as impressed by the picture quality as we were early on, and so now we're basically just watching them for the episodes themselves.

Interesting they didn't fix the missing port thruster effect in booby trap when they are trying to get out of the debris field.

I just watched it last night and noticed it, too. Was it like that in the original version?

Yep, it was missing originally. So they are staying faithful. I figured they would fix it.

I'm certainly not burned out on TNG. If anything, I'm enjoying season 3 (again) more than ST12. Season 4 can't come soon enough.![]()
And despite having some good stuff in them, there are some really forgettable eps such as Ménage à Troi, A Matter of Perspective, and Evolution.
Some random thoughts...
Episodes that remain strong even after more rewatches than I can count: Who Watches The Watchers?, The Enemy, The Defector, Sarek, The Most Toys, Yesterday's Enterprise, The Offspring, Sins of the Father. I never get bored during any of these.
Even though season 3 was the undeniable turning point for TNG, it still has some real stinkers. I'd forgotten how terrible The Price was, and I never really cared for Transfigurations, The Ensigns of Command, or Captain's Holiday. (Not that the latter two are terrible, just not very good.)

Some of the mediocre episodes have taken on a special significance on the umpteenth watch. Like Jonathan Frake's hammy performance in A Matter of Perspective. "You're a dead man, Apgar!". One of the best unintentionally funny moments in the series.![]()
I don't hate it, but it's not an ep I would watch again for a long time.Another thing, though: I can't believe "A Matter of Perspective" is such a universally spurned episode.
My main problem with it is, there are wildly different versions of events presented, which is a good reminder that we are just seeing testimony, not facts. But when the final version of events is presented, it is just taken as undeniable fact, even by Krag. He just apologizes to Riker and leaves. The idea that they would recreate the witnesses statements on the holodeck is great [...]

Like others, I'm making my way through the season at a rather slow pace. I love the show and what they have done with the blu-ray, but I guess I'm just a little burnt-out Trek-wise.
Speaking of which, Aatrek and FrontierTrek, any Season 4 news, updates of special features, anything to whet the appatite for the Season 4 release? I'm starting to think we're not having a theater event, which will be a shame. However, by now we would have had more developments as to what to expect on the special features. I think this season will feature the arts department (Since season 3 featured the writing). I really hope one of the features in the future is a reunion of the composers doing the music for the series. It's stuff like that which I find fascinating, and basically, I'm just thirsting for Season 4 news at this point.
