WOLVERINE director search down to 8

Excellently looking...and looks like (yes I'll finally admit this lol) that they're not totally ignoring Origins.

Why, does it show the bone claws?

Posting the huge picture wasn't necessary after you've posted the link. It's streching the page badly, maybe you should edit out the big pic and just keep the link?

Yeah, but what I meant was, was that in the trailer? What about the trailer made a connection to Origins, or was it just the WWII connection?

Huge X-Men fan but not huge on any of the prior movie adaptations.

So why am I excited for this? It looks kinda offbeat and different.

It looks better with each trailer.
So just how close does this appear to be to the comic book arc?

It's also the first movie that's coming out after Fox finally started focusing on trying to create a cohesive and coherent universe instead of just throwing random crap at the wall. So that gives me a little extra hope for this.

Or in other words, after Avengers made a metric fuckton of money and the other studios were like "I want".

There's still time for the appearance of a leaked workprint with unfinished special effects. Or a time-traveling whistleblower from the year 2000 could point out that Jackman's the wrong height. Game change.

It could go either way.

@JD the script changed considerably when Mangold was named director. The original script written by McQuarrie had one mutant in it...Wolverine, and was extremely close to the original arc by Claremont and Miller. As has been mentioned before in here, Mangold said that script is about 80 percent intact, and of course we know from the trailers now what changes have been made. It's still fairly close, but slightly altered.

Also really this is the second movie that is part of the new initiative. The first of course was 2011's "X-Men: First Class".

I wouldn't really put First Class in the category of, quote, "focusing on trying to create a cohesive and coherent universe."

I strongly doubt he was the only mutant in the original script.

He said in his script that he wrote. I'm assuming that he forgot Silver Samurai was a mutant during this interview, or for some reason he wasn't in that first script :) I'm sticking with that he forgot since he wrote this sucker several years ago now.
