SO. What is out there? Action figures? I need to buy toys and I need to buy them NOW!

Also, I am praying for a calendar for 2014. Hopefully God will answer me with "yes, my sweet".

I hope the quality is better than 2009 version. In this day and age, fuzzy photo calendars should be outlawed.

I have Christopher Pike from that one up right now, over my monitor :D

The 2009 calendar was 10,000 times better than the dreadful, blurry, up close face, scene-less, repetitive, uncreative, uncaring, unfannish TOS calendars they have been churning out for years.

I disagree. The new one I got for my birthday that year was NOT any better. Love you anyway, teacake.

Playmates did not shell out action figures and ships this time around for Into Darkness.. I wished they did.... But I'm happy with what I have from the 2009 movie. Didn't get the figures though as I thought they looked mediocre..

Playmates lost the license to make Star Trek toys awhile back. Hasbro (the maker of Star Wars and G.I. Joe toys) obtained the license, but the only thing they're producing for Star Trek XII is for their Kre-O (Lego-wannabe) construction line.

Hot Wheels is making a line of 6-inch or so die-cast ships from both Star Trek XII and earlier incarnations of Trek, but these won't apparently be available until June.

Same here.
And I'm still waiting for the rest of the bridge and transporter room from 2009.

I was hoping some of you USA guys would tantalise us in the rest of the world with the STID toys available in your local stores.
I just order some of the Kre-o stuff - including the brick Enterprise with lights. Yes. $80 shipping

That absolutely SUCKS.
HOW CAN THERE BE NO KHAN ACTION FIGURE?!

I really hope there'll be an Art of Star Trek Into Darkness book

Same here. But there has been no word on one, so far.

The Art of book for the 2009 film was only announced months after release so fingers crossed still plenty of time.

Really? I was under the impression we knew it was coming months before the movie was released. But I could very well be remembering wrong.

Fingers crossed.

The reason why the Playmates 2009 Star Trek action figures didn't sell well was because they did not look very good. I've seen better figures made and the figures they did were half hearted. The larger 12" and the 6" ones looked pretty decent I think, but it was the smaller 3.75" ones that didn't look really good, could've been better. I think they did good on the Enterprise electronic toy as well as the electronic phaser, communicator and tricorder toy props...

And did Playmates end up releasing some of these? >>> http://trekmovie.com/2009/06/13/exc...tes-2nd-wave-of-star-trek-movie-figures-toys/

There maybe is still hope though in Diamond Select Toys. They have the license to Star Trek. But currently, it seems their license are doing the non-Abrams Star Trek. They have been doing some great looking figures of TNG and TOS figures and ships.. So I can only wonder how good the figures would look if they were to do figures and ships from Abram's Star Trek....

Customer dissatisfaction may have been one reason, but it wasn't the only one. Playmates bungled the toyline by putting out too much product all at once and by overestimating the actual demand for Star Trek toys to begin with. They flooded retailers with multiple figures in different scales and customers generally chose just one.
After interest in Star Trek XI had died down, retailers found them stuck with lots of Trek Wave 1 toys that were just collecting dust on the shelves. They weren't interested in Wave 2 as a result. Playmates eventually found themselves having to scrap all future Trek figures, including all of Wave 2.

DST has a license to make only a specific range of Trek toys (the same is true for companies like Gentle Giant, Medicom and Sideshow with specific Star Wars toys). The license that Hasbro has is likely the master toy license, which means that may be possible they could sub-license out to any of the abovementioned companies--including DST--to make certain Trek toys they're not interesting in producing themselves. The only question is what are Hasbro's future plans with Trek?

Yeah it was definitely first announced a fair while after the film, I assume because of the success at the box office.

Revell is also releasing a model kit of the new Enterprise (after the kit announced last time by Round 2 got cancelled). It's supposed to come out this month, but not in the US so you've got to order it online.
