Yeah, Jake was probably the most realistic kid of any of the Trek series. He was funny, laid-back, creative but unambitious - basically just a regular teenager. He was the anti-Wesley... which is probably why I like him.

But Nog is still my favorite; he reminds me of an eager, hyper-active little puppy.

Yeah, I was groaning inside for a couple early episodes when Sisko seemed to be encouraging Jake to join Starfleet... though I was pleasantly surprised when Jake just said he didn't want to, but was afraid of disappointing his father... who in the end had no problem with it. It seemed very real. One of my favorite Jake episodes was Nor the Battle to the Strong... he was really a regular guy with merits and limitations in that episode and you could feel for him.

My God, teacake. That new avatar is hilariously disturbing.

I go with Jake. He had a quiet soul and I'm glad they didn't have him join Starfleet. I liked the twist of Nog ending up at the academy.

I voted for Jake, since he seems like the kid I most would have hung out with when I was his age. And my dog is named Jake.

I'd vote for Naomi WIldman if we were talking about how they look today.

I might have voted for ALexander, if only because he made me miss Wesley.

I voted for Nog. His character developed the most and I found myself disliking him less and less over time.

Jake and Nog always felt like real teenagers, hanging out on the Promenade and occasionally misbehaving, unlike Wesley, who too often seemed like a cross between a miniature adult and some idealized notion of what a teenage whiz kid should be . . . .

What's more, they had their own series of young reader novels as well focusing in their adventures: Star Trek: Deep Space Nine (young reader series)-Wesley never had that (although I still like him.)

Nog, although I liked what they did with Jake, even though he got little to do in the final season; he was actually just in nine episodes.

Aaaand I just realized that I completely forgot to include Alexander in this poll. Whoops. Did anyone plan on voting for him, anyway?

I'm actually starting to feel just a little bad for Wesley...

...that said, just as I'd started to soften my hatred for him throughout most of TNG (I rather enjoy him in "The Game") he blew it all in his final appearance.

If I squint and ignore TNG seasons 1, 2, and 7, then Wesley is a lot more tolerable, and in quite a few episodes, actually kinda cool.

He was even more annoying than Wesley! Of course that had nothing to do with being a kid as DS9 proved he was still annoying after he grew up.

Clearly Alexander had daddy issues. Worf did have a coffee mug that said Galaxy's Worst Dad though. :p
