I thought it'd be interesting to see which kid out of all the Star Trek series was the most well-liked.

Let's refrain from making this a hate thread, shall we?

No Charlie Evans, no Jahn (though both actors were about 27), so I'll have to go with Robin Lefler.

I liked Naomi. She was sweet and childlike (not like a star trek super intelligent kid) and I liked that she loved 7 when no one else (except Janeway) did.

Voted for Nog, but I considered voting for Jake or possibly Icheb.

Or Wes, but only for the irony.

So far Noggles is in the lead! Yay!

I voted for Nog, too. I did not like him at first, because he was just like every other Ferengi, only younger. But he turned out to be a great character. He told Sisko he would never regret recommending him for Starfleet Academy, and I don't believe Sisko ever did.

Nog became one of my favorites in the episode where he starts out with his rather comedic attempt to pay Sisko to sponsor him for the Academy, then rather heartbreakingly tells Sisko that he doesn't want to grow up to be like his father. I don't think we'd ever seen Nog show such sincerity to that point in the series.

Chekov! "I can do zhat! I can do zhat!"

If Wesley were put in command of the Enterprise for a second, he's have jizzed his pants in a smug nerdy glee. Chekov is left in charge for a few minutes during an all-out apocalyptic crisis, and he just sighs and carries on. Epic.

That was a great moment. I also loved when he stood up to Martok and the other Klingons who were loitering on the promenade.

"You are either very brave, or very stupid, Ferengi!"
"Probably a little of both."

Hmph. I just read Jammer's review of the pertinent episode ("Heart of Stone") and while granted it was primarily a Kira-Odo episode, I'm bummed that literally all he said about the Nog storyline was: "Set as a B-story is a lightweight but amiable yarn involving Nog trying to persuade Sisko to recommend him for Starfleet Academy. He says he doesn't want to end up like his father Rom, who has chased fortune his entire life with little success."

Unfortunately, when it comes to the Ferengi, I think a lot of their real character development is ignored, because people don't look beyond their more annoying aspects.

Also, Jammer is overrated. *runs away to avoid being flogged*

Nog. He had one of the best character arcs in all of Trek. Jake would take second by sole virtue of he wasn't that annoying.

Jake. I like writers.

Nog would be a close second, and I was rather fond of Naomi as well. She seemed like a good kid.

I'm surprised and happy to see so much love for Nog. As others have said, his character arc was amazing. That aside, I'll always love the trouble he and Jake got into as two mischievous boys on the run from Odo.

Jake and Nog always felt like real teenagers, hanging out on the Promenade and occasionally misbehaving, unlike Wesley, who too often seemed like a cross between a miniature adult and some idealized notion of what a teenage whiz kid should be . . . .

Nog was my hands-down favorite among the non-others in the poll, so I went with him.

However, my overall favorite Trek kid, from all series, including one-offs, is the young Spock from TAS:Yesteryear.
