Captain America: The Winter Soldier pre-release thread

I'm definitely the most excited about this movie vs all the others (until they bring Doctor Strange into the mix).

Deadline article.

Robert Redford has joined the film as Agent Alexander Pierce, a senior leader of S.H.I.E.L.D. The pic is also bumping up Scarlett Johansson‘s role as her Avengers character Natasha Romanoff teams with Captain America (Chris Evans) in the present day “to battle a powerful yet shadowy enemy in present-day Washington, DC”. Anthony and Joe Russo are directing from Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely’s script and have filled out their supporting cast with returning Marvel actors and new faces: Sebastian Stan is back as Bucky Barnes/Winter Soldier, last seen in Captain America: The First Avenger‘s 1943 timeline, along with Hayley Atwell as Peggy Carter and Toby Jones as Arnim Zola. Samuel L. Jackson (Nick Fury), Cobie Smulders (Agent Maria Hill), and Maximiliano Hernandez (Agent Jasper Sitwell) return, joined by Anthony Mackie as Sam Wilson/Falcon, Frank Grillo as Brock Rumlow, and UFC champ Georges St-Pierre as Georges Batroc. Emily VanCamp is aboard as Steve Rogers’ new love interest, Agent 13.

Looks like the fighter jet scene will be pretty big

Also, are the Captain America movies going to be known for getting old hollywood male legends?

First Tommy Lee Jones and now Redford. Who next, Clint eastwood?

I haven't been paying too close attention to this whole thing, but I'm happy to see that Black Widow will be playing a part in the story. Since she and Hawkeye are unlikely to get their own films, I hope they continue to make appearances in the other characters' films.

Of course, as I'm sure has been mentioned somewhere in this thread, Natasha is an important part of the Winter Soldier's backstory in the comics, so her inclusion only makes sense.

BTW, that's the Falcon concept art in my current avatar.

Well, I'm generally clueless about most of these stories. If it's not the 90s X-Men cartoon, I'm pretty much in the dark.

Hmmm, Redford's character is from the comics, but that's not unexpected. Neither is the confirmation that Emily VanCamp is playing Agent 13, aka Sharon Cater. What is unexpected is the return of Hayley Atwell, after all of her denials. (Although it shouldn't surprise me,)

Also, production has begun!:)

“Captain America: The Winter Soldier” will pick-up where “Marvel’s The Avengers” left off, as Steve Rogers struggles to embrace his role in the modern world and teams up with Natasha Romanoff, aka Black Widow, to battle a powerful yet shadowy enemy in present-day Washington, D.C.
Saw this earlier today and I like the pic! Nice first teaser.

Also, in the spirit of filming, they shot a few sound stages in LA last week and now are moving out to Cleveland.

If you’re in Cleveland and want to be an extra in the movie, there will be an extras casting call held next week. Get all of the details here.

Yes. I'm so used to seeing Cap wear the shield on his back in the comics, always having it Available even when he's at ease, that it was really strange to see him caught without it during the attack on the Helicarrier in The Avengers. Bet he was thinking about it when that guy with the machine gun was holding him at bay.

Imagine how many times that shield must have saved his life during WWII. After his first taste of action in modern times, I'm sure he's back on guard and the shield stays within reach now if he can help it.

Haha, also in the comics, I can remember when he'd established a civilian identity as a freelance artist and he'd carry the shield inside a portfolio.

The article I read said they aren't 100% sure that it is legit, so I wouldn't get to attached to it. If it is legit, I do like it.

Needs more red.

I agree.

Also the boots look kinda rubbery.

Don't agree with the fingerless driving gloves.

On the plus side I like the helmet this time.

Hopefully the red and white stripes go all the way around to break up the monochromatic look of the back.

Still I have to say I'm not disappointed.

We've had two movies of 'traditional' Cap costuming so I don't really mind what they do here. Plus, this is very comic inspired anyway so I can't imagine too many complaints being directed from anyone.
