The Braves are thumpers but they are going to strike out a lot. Nice night for Maholm and the offense roughed up Halladay who looked somewhat under the weather tonight. Gattis takes him deep in his debut while his dad was being interviewed. That was a cool moment. Justin goes deep again and Heyward gets his first. I swear that Heyward gets the attention but Freddie Freeman might be the best offensive player on this team.

Go Twins! Glad to see another fan. I must also be a glutton for punishment, but I'll keep rooting for the Twinkies. I can't say I'm expecting a lot, but I do think they'll beat beat the Vegas odds, which have them losing 94 games.

I hope you're right. I'll stick with them even if they stay in last place like last year. I think that win against Detroit yesterday was pretty awesome. Hopefully they can build off of that instead of like last season's dreadful 0-4 start.

Cliff Lee is the only Phillies ace that seemed to have command of his stuff during the Braves series. He pounded the zone last night getting ahead on just about every hitter he faced. Medlan was really struggling with command last night but still turned in a 2 run, 5 inning performance.

B.J. Upton looks completely lost up there right now while Justin is getting some really quality at bats. Like last year, the Braves will likely struggle against good left handed pitching.

The Phillies offense is really lacking any structure. Chase Utley appears to be as healthy as possible right now which is going to be huge for them. As Howard ages his swing gets longer and slower. He is really starting to decline rapidly but still a threat whenever he connects. They are really going to need guys like Dom Brown and John Mayberry to step up and perform like they are expected to if they want a shot at the playoffs.

Yeah, that analysis is about right. It's too early in the season to really get a sense of everything, but it's nice to see Lee get a win in April (last year his first win was in June or July).

Yeah, I am in no way a Phillies fan but I love watching their three aces work. The Phillies wasted so many of Lee's starts last year. They didn't exactly light up the scoreboard last night but at least he got the W. He really is a fun pitcher to watch when he is on.

Ruben Tejada already up to 4 errors in 5 games for the Mets. Of course that makes him leading the majors in errors. Ugh!

B.J hits a bomb to tie it in the ninth and then Justin hits the walkoff. You can't write this stuff.

Man I just can't figure out what happened to Marmol. That guy used to be dominant and just... lost it. 27.00 ERA closer... yay.

    Hey.

    Hey, Carlos Marmol.

    You.

    Yeah, you.

A fire. Go die in one.

^ I wondered if you'd get here first.

Fucking Marmol. He's lost it completely. Probably no trade value anymore either.

Next to zero at this point, unless he somehow gets his head screwed on straight. There was that deal with the Angels for Haren that got kiboshed after the Cubs' doctors must have dropped the mother of all stinkbombs on his medical records, but that's now looking like a blessing in disguise after Haren was teed off on during spring training and flat-out abused yesterday. Marmol's at the point that the only way the Cubs will be able to move him is if they take on someone else's problem contract.

Speaking of uniforms, oh did no one mention them? I like the new blue with orange piping Mets uniform top. Now I'm not totally sold on the new blue with orange brim cap. Maybe I'll warm up to it, we'll see.

    Marmol out as closer

I hope Fuji can do the job well enough that there's no temptation to put Marmol back in.

God, I still can't get over Hendry signing Marmol to a 3 / 20 contract when he already had well-documented reliability issues. Marmol is garbage when his slider isn't breaking, and it's been flat as hell for at least a year. I'm sure Hoyer will try to move him, but, man, I can't see any trade that doesn't involve the Cubs eating some portion of that nearly $10 million owed to Marmol this year.

The blue jerseys are okay, but I don't like the new caps. And I hate the BP caps and home jackets with the Mr. Met logo. :barf:

My favorite Mets unis of all time were the black jerseys they used to use, and the all-white ones they still do use.

Freddie Freeman to the 15 day DL. Man that hurts. I guess first base will see split time with Gattis and Chris Johnson.

    Timby should love this:

In Miami, the Dinger Machine cost about $2.5 million to build - 22 of 25 players on the Marlins roster make less than that. So the DM makes more money than they do.

Fujikawa gets the closer role after giving up 3 runs last night. That makes sense.

I think Samardzija is going to strike out 25 Braves today.
