Okay, I'm pumped. I guess I didn't realize that this would be taking place after the other X-Men movies (which I assume from the Jean Grey flashback).

    Looks pretty good.
A lot of times on these tentpole action films we get varied focus on the trailers.
My observation is that you get a true tease, around a minute give/take.
Then a big 2 min fuller trailer but the focus is lots of action and money shots.
Then finally a 3rd trailer, also 2min+, with greater focus on the story.

Here we got no teaser really(I'm not counting that 10sec stuff).
And this trailer does a good job of giving us story/plot and action money shots.

I'm very eager for this film.

Looks okay. I'm not sure I buy the idea of Wolverine giving up his powers though he seemed kind of shocked juding by his reactions in the trailer so maybe it's not done willingly?

They've actually updated the page with a shorter domestic trailer which has some different footage.

I'm not sure about him giving up the powers either. They'll have to work around the adamantium poisoning or he'll die pretty quickly.

Did he ever do that in the Claremont comic that this supposedly based on?

Do we know when this is supposed to take place?

This looks pretty good, and certainly more interesting than Origins.

Why would he be surprised that his powers could be taken away? That was a key plot point of X-Men The Last Stand--the mutant "cure."

The FOX movie timeline seems to be:
    XM:FC(early 60s)----XM: DOFP(early 70s)----XM:OW(late 70's)---X-Men Trilogy('00s)---The Wolverine(present '13)

Yeah, after watching the trailer a few times since my initial post I've had this thought. Didn't he and Rouge have some heart-to-heart. So this notion of a cure, post TLS, being a revelation seems to raise questions.

"X-Men Origins: Wolverine" is pretty much being ignored by both filmmakers...and I think he's more surprised that anything could take his mutation away. This Logan seems to be more haunted and beat down mentality than the one in "The Last Stand". A tired Logan, unless of course the Cure is something that is being "ignored" :) Also we know from Magneto at the end of the film that maybe it didn't work.

I think it looks absolutely fantastic. Viper looks great, this is going to be awesome.

Well, for all we know, a mutant cure would have no effect on Wolverine. His healing power might prevent it from doing anything at all.

Except that he has the bone claws, and nothing that we know so far conflicts with Origins. I don't expect the movie to explain where Victor is during the Nagasaki sequence, though, if that counts.

I never said it would conflict with Origins, only that they're ignoring it. Of course this could have changed at some point during production, but the original plan was to ignore Origins.

So why ignore Origins but not TLS?

And we don't know what has happened since then. As seen at the end of X3, the cure "wears off" on Magneto after a few weeks, so for all we know it was found to be a non-issue for everyone afterwards.
