The Missile Boat was ridiculously overpowered in the games. You could take down a Star Destroyer iwth it.

Yeah, it was so much fun. Running out of targets is what led to the tender disengaging, of course, after final top-off, at least in the original game, and that's when it got more interesting.

That was a fun game back in the day. I also played around with the N64 Shadows of the Empire game and that one had some interesting and unique ships you could assume control of. It's been eons since I played the thing but I think Dash Rendar's Outrider was a vessel you could pilot and fight with.

All this talk of the old SW flight sim game just makes me want to hear that Wedge Antille's will appear in the sequels. Doesn't have to be a big part(not like he had any big part in the original trilogy), but the character's name is pretty well known especially among gamers.

I know it doesn't mix with the EU, but it would be better if he was head of the new Rebel Government's military/starfighter forces than just some new unknown character.

Can have one of his kids be in the squadron of whoever is used for the 'next-gen' younger characters.

I'd like to see both Denis Lawson (Wedge) and Ewan McGregor pop up in Episode VII. Denis is, after all, Ewan's uncle on his mom's side of the family.

"Ben, you're Wedge's uncle? That can't be because I know for a fact you don't have a brother."

    "I do not."

    "Ha! See?"

    "I have a half-brother."

Nope, just doesn't have the same ring to it as May 4th! :guffaw:

I always call May 25 Return of the Jedi Day, anyway.

The original Star Wars was released in my hometown on June 15, so that will always be Star Wars Day, to me.

The Empire Strikes Back Day is of course May 21.

I don't know when the original film first opened in my area back in '77, but the actual national premiere date of May 25th was observed by only 38 theaters across the entire country. As we now know, nobody expected the first film to be a blockbuster and gain a monstrous following.

Still, May 25th is still technically the date when two of the three original movies made their debut so I recognize it as such.

    Yeah, I know.

Maybe I should change my observance on June 15 to General Release Day. No one should have to ask general release of what. :p

    I don't think that's wise. When I don't get a reference, I always think of sex.

I have a SW nerd friend who recognizes the anniversary of the premiere of Episode I (May 19, 1999) and always mentions it when it rolls around. Which is cool. I actually like Episode I, but I don't think there are too many souls in this country no matter how fiendishly geeky they might be that pay tribute to May the 19th and celebrate The Phantom Menace.

That kind of thing will lead to bodily harm in some circles.

The only geek festival I celebrate is September 13, 1999, the day the Moon left Earth's orbit.

I've been "complimented" twice now on the board for saying something geeky/nerdy. (Or, were these backhanded compliments?) Both times were for something to do with Star Wars.*

I just can't believe I haven't said plenty of other geeky/nerdy things all the time, but, I guess, because this is a Star Trek board, almost all of them probably go totally unnoticed. (Probably only the non-Trek ones are the ones standing out.) :p

    * - The other one was my theory for why stormtroopers are armored, yet you can still shoot them dead with a blaster. You can look that one up. Apparently, it's really geeky. Or nerdy.

Well, it's also the date that REVENGE OF THE SITH was released in 2005, and I think everybody agrees that THAT was the better movie (at least I think so).

You could always tell you friend to just mention that instead.
