Going Veggie

Love coconut. I got addicted to coconut many years ago when a friend put fried coconut on top of some vanilla ice cream I was eating. It was fantastic, and I've loved it ever since.

Look I've got yellow watermelon!!

They had white ones too but I didn't buy one.. the yellow watermelon is much sweeter than the red ones.

Thanks for the pic! Yellow watermelon is a cross between cantaloupe and watermelon. Since I am not a cantaloupe fan, yellow watermelon does not appeal to me either.

A family friend owns plantations in Hawaii. For the best tasting watermelon EVER, try a Hawaiian! That is saying much, because I am a bit of a watermelon connoisseur.:adore:

It's not literally a cross as far as I can read. And I don't think it has any flavour resemblance if that's what you meant.
We must agree to disagree. I don't care for the flavor because of the overwhelming cantaloupe flavor.

Well lets see some info, all my research says there are a few differing color varieties to watermelon, it's just the pink one was more available for years. Not a cantaloupe in sight.

Have you ever had coconut ice cream? It's fabulous.
I won't rest now until I find some of this. I absolutely love coconut in just about anything. I once bought a bag of Coconut M&Ms and almost ate the whole thing in one night. :ouch:

Coconut M n' M's were the stuff of legend here for a long time.. you could buy them on ebay from far away at exorbitant prices but I'd never actually seen them. And then one day they came back!! And me, who really hasn't got a sweet tooth, DID eat a whole bag of them.

If I started posting about my adventures with coconut and coconut flavour I'd go on forever.. I was drinking coconut iced tea all through the recent heat.

For coconut ice cream try good asian restaurants.

Also you can get GREAT asian deserts with coconut milk.. poured over crushed ice and fruit and beans and.. :adore:

Never seen Fringe, I take it? ;)

The key word in teacake's post here is literally.
In all deference to our dear teacake, I never called it a literal genetic cross-breed. As restated in my second post, the cantaloupe flavor is what I do not like.:vulcan:

^You have to admit that your second post can be read either way, it doesn't clarify at all that you weren't saying it was a crossbreed. It no big deal or anything, but that's how it reads.

^My apologies. I thought adding the word flavor more than once made it clear. I came here for a break from reality before my surgery... upon reflection, that may not have been the best idea.

The white stuff is coconut cream. They were served in a Thai restaurant. They're the best dessert ever, next to mango pancakes:
