Hmm, a little resemblance in the face, but not the voice.

To be honest, I think I also got Liberace and Trelane confused . . . .

More than just a little resemblance, I'd say. Could they have been separated at birth?

But could Henry Gibson control all that we see and hear?

Even though he did later appear in an episode of Voyager, I'm surprised that Joseph Campenella never did TOS.

Ohhh, what excellent comparison shots. There really is a resemblance there; they could've played brothers. Nicely done, scotpens.

^ Yikes! That's uncanny. Glad to see that my younger self wasn't completely off-track.

Those pics are separated by about 20 years though aren't they? During TOS, Gibson looked like he did on Laugh In

I was thinking the same thing about John Astin, & he woldn't have even been the 1st Addam's Family alum to show up, given Ted Cassidy's appearances, & he certainly wasn't the only one to show up on Batman

It's also odd that Clint Howard showed up, but not Ron

Mark Hamill, Harrison Ford, or Carrie Fisher. It would have been the biggest of all gimmicks, but you know the ratings would have shot through the roof and more than paid for the extra guest star salary.

No way could they have afforded Ford, but Hamill or Fisher . . . sure. Fisher guest-starred on ELLEN (the sitcom, not the talk show) and Hamill played guest villains on both THE FLASH and CHUCK.

I watch the Western movie channel when I'm up late at night. They run a lot of obscure old movies from the 30s 40 and 50s. I'm always amazed at how many Trek actors were in those old flicks.

As far as who I'd like to have seen in TOS? Peter Graves, Edgar Buchanan, Leslie Nielsen, Susan Day George, Diahann Carroll ...

There are a ton of actors who would have been great in TOS, but there's only so much you can do.

If genre television is considered somewhat of a typecasting trap, why not celebrate that?
    Ironside and David for sure but how about Lance Henriksen;Michael Biehn,Robert Davi,Jerry Doyle,Christopher Judge,Claudia Christian,Richard Dean Anderson,Gary Busey,Christopher Heyerdahl(a must) etc.

I think Heyerdahl's a bit anachronistic here. He only seems to have emerged as a familiar genre face in the past decade or so, and it seems to be only recently that he's begun showing up in Hollywood productions rather than Vancouver ones.

A few more Babylon 5 alumni would have been nice. I'd have cast Michael O'Hare as the head of Section 31. Everybody knows he was better than Boxleitner.

    Yum!

Been going through The Avengers Season 4 recently. What a show.

Just call me Mr. Nobody, then...

Anyway, for all its merits, B5 had few actors of the caliber that Trek had. Many of their best actors had actually done Trek, like Andreas Katsulas and Walter Koenig.

The likely reason for Robert Urich not being in DS9 is that Paramount was really anxious about people seeing Avery Brooks as Hawk. That's why they made him shave and grow his hair for the first few years. It took that long for Brooks to convince them to let him go back the way he wanted to look. They where scared to death people would see "Star Trek: Spencer for Hire" and so, it's no surprise they never had Urich appear.

TPTB where always weird about stuff like that. They spent so much time fussing over Janeways hair and chest. Kate Mulgrew laments it at every convention, about how insane they where changing the hair and making sure her chest was neither too much or too little or this or that. Again, it took until season 3/4 for them to let her just be herself with such.

The only reason we had Stockwell w/Bakula for a Quantum Leap reuinion was the sci-fi connection and Enterprise needing every boost it could get, plus Bakula's behind the scenes power compared to his other captains of past shows (IE, Bakula was already much more established as 'name' and a 'leading man' in comparison).

They could have even had Sisko actually playing Hawk in a holosuite program. That would have been hilarious.
