More Star Wars films announced

Preferred order is obviously Star Wars, The Empire Strikes Back, Return of the Jedi. And if after that you still need more Star Wars just watch them again.. or play Super Star Wars... or X-Wing... or TIE Fighter... or read those Thrawn books... Heir to the Empire... or whatever... that was pretty good... granted it's been almost 20 years since I read it.

So if these films actually turn out half decent, we bitter nerds of the interwebs deserve credit and praise for redeeming the franchise.

Well, JJ's doing them, so I hope you like your Star Wars with a side of lens-flare and camera-shake.

I'm not a big JJ fan, but he managed a pretty decent 80's Spielberg impersonation with Super 8, so here's to hoping he will take that tack and try to embrace the OT-era visually.

Just curious: in what order do you guys tend to view the films in the Saga?
I just watch whatever happens to be on Spike.

But seriously, because I've seen all six so many times, it really does not matter which one I watch. I have never sat down and watched all six in any order back to back to back.

Spike does love to cram a lot of commercials into a Star Wars film, don't they? You barely get into a new scene before ten more ads for Honey Nut Cheerios cockblock everything.

I really don't see how the cock is involved... :P

Ben was referring to the glory days of the old Republic.

That Ben had been really talking about an earlier time, even before the PT

You're putting words in his mouth. He said before the dark times, before the Empire. Not before the PT. The PT is part of the Republic era.

Of course Obi-Wan *could* have had that attitude about blasters

Could? It's right there in the quote you posted.

Oh, really? So, the PT lasted over a thousand generations? No?

What fraction of a period of time lasting over a thousand generations do you suppose that the time span of the PT would take?

Hence the words "of course".

I started a rewatch last year, and started with the PT, although it's been months since I watched RoTS and I haven't done ANH yet. This will be the first time I've watched them in chronological order.

I think I'm going to watch a couple of the original theatrical versions of the OT from the 2006 two-disc DVD releases of the films. Right now it's the only way to watch the unaltered original edits from 1977-83 unless you still own the videocassettes that came out in the eighties and nineties (or download them from some source).

They're not digitally cleaned and remastered and the sound and picture quality on the bonus discs doesn't live up to that of the Special (now official) Editions, but they're still the original 1977, 1980 and 1983 versions of the movies....and unless Disney and Lucasfilm have a change of heart they'll probably be the only discs containing them for the foreseeable future.

Could not the "dark times" refer to the entire conflict with the Trade Federation (which had already begun as of the opening scene of TPM)? Before Darth Maul appears, it's likely the Republic had enjoyed generations of peace.

No, only PT hate has the power to last a thousand generations.

And the words "could have" are still out of place.

Judging from the comic series of the same name, the term "dark times" is supposed to represent the post-ROTS period.

Now rumors are starting to circulate that The Clone Wars is over. I think that officially puts the entire franchise in flux.

The Clone Wars: Status Unknown
Detours: Status Unknown
Original Cast: Status Unknown
1313: Status Unknown

Hello Disney, anybody there?
