I'm wondering how his death would link into the other books since they rarely seem to have any connection with Batman Inc.

Holy crap! Geoff Johns is leaving Green Lantern!

This is crazy. His Lantern run is what got me back in to comics. Whoever takes over has some huge shoes to fill.

That's a good question. There have been little nods here and there, but it was easy to look at Batman Inc as its own self-contained thing. (I thought it was easier to read it that way, too.) But if Damian dies, I'd expect the other books (and the March solicitations are certainly suggestive) to deal with the fallout.

The character I'm really curious about now is Jason Todd. The recent reveal in Batman Inc that he's been operating as Wingman actually makes a few things make sense, like how the Outlaws are able to operate.

Johns had a great run on GL but honestly, i think its time he did step back. IMO his GL hasn't been good since Darkest Night.

^He still had some good stuff in his Brightest Day issues.

He really should have left after the end of the last volume.

I thought they were going to have to take it from his dying grasp.

Safe guesses imo are probably Bedard or Tomasi.

If they want to be bold, DnA, Lemire or one of the new slate of writers. In a related note, Frankenstein in Lemire's Animal Man became a GL.

Tomasi needs to stay on GLC. Nobody writes Guy Gardner better than him.

"So what will 'Green Lantern' #20 bring? The bizarre return of Hal Jordan, the final fate of Sinestro, the revelation of the First Lantern and an ending that I hope pays off everything we’ve ever done and ever created with 'Green Lantern,'" Johns said in his post. "It has art by Doug Mahnke, Ethan Van Sciver, Ivan Reis and Joe Prado and I’ve poured everything I can into the script."

That had better not mean he's killing Sinestro off. He's done such wonders for the character, and I would hate for it to be the end. After this arc concludes, I would really like to see Sinestro try to take his place as a hero. That really seemed to be the path he was going down

Ok, initial shock over. I'm sad to see him go, but it will be nice to see some new blood on the book. Johns has crafted an epic run for the ages that will always be one of my favorites. I know some people have not been as enamored with the book lately, but in my eyes Green Lantern has never been anything less than a solid read. I just hope his final few issues can satisfactorily wrap up the years long storylines while still leaving the world in great shape for a new writer to deliver new epic stories.

Also, looks like Kyle still has his white duds for a while. I'm really expecting them to depower him the very first chance they get, though. He's pretty much the most powerful hero in the DC Universe right now.

I agree. I've gotten a much greater appreciation for Sinestro as a villain since the Blackest Night arc and tie-ins to it were created, and Johns has gotten some great mileage out of the relationship between him and Hal.

Another thing I've just realized, what other title is there for Geoff Johns to write?

He has done all the big name characters and teams

    Superman
    Batman
    Hawkman
    Green Lantern
    Flash
    Aquaman
    Justice League/JLA/JSA

    What is there left?

Green Arrow? Jeff Lemire just started on the book.

WW? He is not good at writing her. Ditto for Batman.

    Firestorm? Book is cancelled.

The Atom is the only thing he hasn't tackled.

I don't think he plans to take on another book. Between JL, JLA, GL, Aquaman, and his job as head of creative control at DC, he has quite a workload. Leaving Green Lantern frees up some time for him.

Well Morrison leaves with issue 12, right? He's been building to this since he took over Batman back in... 2006? 2007? So I wouldn't be surprised if there's a huge twist, such as Damian dying.

That is not a twist. He wanted to kill Damien in his very first story on Batman.

But then Damian became an extremely popular and well developed character. Killing him off at this juncture would be a huge deal.

Wow. Geoff Johns' Green Lantern is what got me back into comics after a five plus year absence. I can't believe it's ending. I can't imagine what it will be like without him on the title...

According to the May solicits, ALL the GL Family creative teams are wrapping up their runs!

That's a big corner of the DCU up for grabs.

Wow. Wrath of the First Lantern will truly feel like an end point to nine years of Green Lantern stories, then. Tomasi leaving GLC actually saddens me a little more than Johns. Guy is a favorite character of mine, and I fear that any new writer may regress him back to how he used to be in the old days, simply an obnoxious jerk and not the loud, but loyal and true character he has become.

Wasn't he the only writer who continued writing the same series after the switch over to The New 52.
