What is "The Fall"?

I just hope the thing that's going to "Fall" isn't the Federation. The writers wouldn't do that, would they? :(
My guess is that it's the Typhon Pact.

Although with the Super Bowl ad for the next film promising...

FALL
I can see the novels going "Bitch, please!" and killing the entire UFP. Especially with David Mack involved.

Still doubt it. But not as ridiculously impossible an idea as it would have been a decade ago.

I think that idea is heading down the same path that this board went down five years ago when speculation was rife that Earth would be destroyed in Destiny!

From David Mack's hint above, I'm going with the idea that

this is the beginning of the end for the Romulan Empire, as pride is a theme closely associated with the Romulans, not least in their Seven Deadly Sins anthology.

Unless I'm reading too much into it.
^
Yeah, as soon as I saw the word Pride my mind went right to SDS, and the Romulan's Pride story.

David Mack's most likely talking about the posters here and the upcoming books named 'Fall'.

As for the 'Fall' books - as per the spoilers in this thread:
-they start with ~there was so much blood;
-during the brainstorming sessions, there appeared comments like ~they are getting pretty grim.

The tone of the books - new battlestar galactica-ish - is obvious.
High body count; whether it's the federation, romulans or whatever, you can be sure it will survive to feature in the next book.

I'm not sure that the pride, here, necessarily has to do with the Romulans. The RSE already went through the consequences of excessive pride in George's Typhon Pact trilogy. Going back on this again might be a bit redundant, especially since the prideful factions and individuals involved in the previous escapade are no longer factors.

Other Typhon Pact powers, sure--the Breen, the Tzenkethi, the Tholians all come to mind.

I just realized what "the Fall" might refer to -- Picard and Crusher's kid is probably going to start walking soon...

So it's probably just about their kid falling down and hurting his knee or something.

Really looking foward to the first 3 The Fall books. Any book with Garak must be considered a DS9 novel. :) So we get 3 as part of The Fall. Cool!

Plus all 5 come out monthly between August and December this year.

Okay... so book 1 is DS9, book 2 is TNG/Garak, book 3 is DS9/Aventine, book 4 is Titan, and book 5 is TNG. That's more series-specific than I thought. Although that may be an oversimplification in some cases.

Here's some more detail from Dayton Ward's blog:

Revelations and Dust by David R. George III, “starring” members of the Star
Trek: Deep Space Nine cast (September)

The Crimson Shadow by Una McCormack, focusing on Picard and Garak (October)

A Ceremony of Losses by David Mack (November)

The Poisoned Chalice by James Swallow, focusing on Riker and the crew of the U.S.S. Titan (December)

Peaceable Kingdoms, by me, “starring” Picard and the Enterprise-E (January 2014)

Have I missed something, or hasn't it been revealed yet who will feature in Mack's novel?

They announced which characters appear in which books a month or two ago.
From David Mack's website said:
1. Revelations and Dust by David R. George III features characters from the Star Trek: Deep Space Nine saga;
2. The Crimson Shadow by Una McCormack focuses on the Star Trek: The Next Generation crew and Garak on Cardassia;
3. A Ceremony of Losses by David Mack (yours truly) will be expounded upon below;
4. The Poisoned Chalice by James Swallow stars the characters of the Star Trek: Titan literary series; and
5. Peaceable Kingdoms by Dayton Ward features the Star Trek: The Next Generation crew.
David Mack said his book the DS9 and Aventine crews.

Except for the Titan book it looks very good.

Why not the Titan book? Plot points haven't even been revealed. Is it that you don't like the series? Remember...it's not Michael A. Martin writing this one. It's James Swallow, who happens to be much better regarded than MaM around these parts...

Might not be an author issue but rather a character set issue.

For me, I'm not interested in the Titan crew at all based on what I read in Taking Wing and the Destiny trilogy.

That being said, I love James Swallow's work, so I'll probably give this one a swing.

I personally am not really interested in the Titan books after the Destiny and Typhon pact books, but i will buy the book because it is part of the fallen serie

Titan has been boring and badly written for the last two novels, and before that it was hit or miss really. But James Swallow is good, so I'm looking forward to his Titan novel.

Personally, TTN is my favourite 24thC series, closely followed by VOY. The multi-species approach is what I like the most about it. And besides VGD, is was my entry into TrekLit, so I'm always biased towards it. ;) I'm looking forward towards its newest outing in The Fall.

When will the covers be released? Just four more months until Revelations and Dust.

We don't even have the cover for Rise of the Federation and From History's Shadow, the July and August releases, so my guess is that it will be a while until the Fall covers will appear online. The covers have been posted later and later over the last year or two.
