I look forward to seeing the next completely re-imagined version of Star Trek in 2031.

I'd love to see a completely re-imagined version of Star Trek tomorrow.

It'll more likely be around 2020 when we see the next reboot.

Which part? The joke about kidnapping? Calling Abrams a "science-fiction genius"? Predicting Star Wars will be a great film? Laughing off a Kirk cameo in Star Wars?

Do we know he isn't a fanboy?

Reception to the news on the SW fan and collecting sites I frequent seems to be positive for the most part. I've run into a few of the predictable "Abrams made a lousy Star Trek so he'll ruin Star Wars" twits who can't accept any Trek that isn't from Roddenberry or B & B (provided they even like Trek at all....some SW fans seem physiologically incapable of liking both franchises at the same time) but about, oh, four out of every five responses are either optimistic or excited.

One of my favorite comments was the guy who posted: "If this means more women in miniskirts and black boots in Star Wars I say HELL, YEAH, go for it!"

Nah, most people would assume the person making the statement was joking. Just today my co-workers and I joked about not letting our supervisor leave the company by tying him to a chair. No one called police.
