PICTURE POST II!

Working for a solar panel firm, spent some time in the Blythe desert doing field reliability studies.

They used this same solar panel field in Gattaca! :D

That was a concentrated solar plant. They use the sun to heat a molten salt. It's nearby to this plant.

This is a PV solar array, direct electrical generation.

TSQ, I like my job, off to Yuma next week. Trying to get in on the trips to Dubai, and Germany.

^Oh, I was being sincere! It sounds like wonderful work, fascinating, and full of great travel opportunities. I'd love to see more pictures of the different places you go!

I'm going to a South Carolina next month for work. Whoo-ee.

Where in SC?

Indeed. If you're going to Charleston, I highly recommend a place called Hank's for dinner, or the Husk Bar. Both are incredibly good and lots of fun, and you might run in to people from our show there because its a big popular haunt for us!

Myrtle Beach. I won't be there long, actually: Basically fly in Thursday afternoon, Friday morning give a bunch of teachers a talk on how to creatively incorporate technology into their classrooms, and fly out! Happily, my boss is not making my dye the turquoise and cobalt blue streaks out of my hair before I go.

I've got nothing agains SC, I'd just rather have gone to the UK or Germany conventions. Maybe next year.

Myrtle Beach is great. I think you'll like it even at this frigid and inhospitable time of the year.

Virginia Beach is even better, but I'm a tiny bit biased.

I imagined I'd enjoy it if I got to explore it, but even though I'm staying overnight I don't think I'll even be there a full 24 hours!
...the turquoise and cobalt blue streaks...

Ooh, my hair is jealous!
A jar of Manic Panic only costs a few bucks, babe!

As I may have mentioned elsewhere, I am now the maintenance person at a discount hotel that, while I will not name it, they seem to feel very strongly about the color of their roofs. Anyway, this kept me there for 16 hours on Saturday:

Luckily no one was in the room at the time. They probably wouldn't have been injured, but it would have scared the shit out of them. What makes it funny is that the general manager did this. I took pictures because it was funny, but it turns out the owner needs them. Also, the manager tried to hide the incident from the owner so I covered my own ass at the same time

Did a car back into the wall?
A car drove forward into the wall. The general manager's car. He said something about the transmission which didn't make any sense. What probably happened is that he tried to back out of the space quickly, was distracted, and put it in drive instead of reverse. Someone told the owner he was drunk, but he seemed sober. This does seem like the kind of thing he would do. Hopefully not repeatedly because that was a bitch to fix.
