COUNTDOWN TO DARKNESS 5-page preview

The proposed opening of Trek 09 was to feature the Enterprise, not the Kelvin and Captain April, not Robau. Bob Orci has replied to comments at Trek Movie saying that the change in timeline has changed April more than others.

Has there ever been a credible source on that? IMDB is the only spot I see claiming that.

Really, if that story is true, why didn't they just have April commanding the Kelvin anyway?

Not just DS9, TNG also.

I think only DS9 said the number of ships named Enterprise that existed in the Federation. TNG had the wall, but I'm inclined to ignore that as well.

I was thinking of Relics.
Scotty: "Show me the bridge of the Enterprise."
Computer "There have been five Federation starships named Enterprise."

Also, the D's dedication plaque says "fifth ship to bear the name."
The TOS Enterprise was supposedly launched in 2245, which is a full 12 years after Nero's arrival. So all bets are off.

Even if an Enterprise were launched in 2245 of the Abrams timeline, it would have the registry NCC-1701, ot the ship seen in the movie.

It's true they wanted to destroy the Enterprise as they have mentioned that in interviews but the rest of it I don't know.

Why? It may have been a ship from an entirely different class. I figure the Constitution class stayed on the drawing board several more years as they attempted to create and integrate technology from the original Kelvin sensor scans of the Narada.

I really don't think he's Robert April. Not only does he look different, they have two different body types.

Aside from which, Abrams isn't revealing the real name of his mysterious villain in a comic book three months before the premiere. Duh.

Not sure it's actually revealing anything though since only about ten to fifteen thousand people actually buy these things.

I'm not buying the person being discussed in spoilers could be Cumberbatch's villain. In fact, even though I speculated weeks ago that it could be him, now I'm actually convinced it isn't because he's in the comic. Why in the world would such secretive people put the big reveal of the movie's villain in the comic book, and months before the movie is released to boot?

That's weird. It works for me.

Ace Hunter? Anyone?... MegaForce??....Anyone??

C'mon -- people from the 1980's can't forget Commander Ace Hunter (Barry Bostwick) from that fine 1982 film MegaForce,
which, by the way, costarred Persis Khambatta

Well, anyway, it's either Ace Hunter or Ra's al Ghul.
