    Yes, fuck cancer.

My mother died of cancer about a month after Trek XI came out. She and my dad were big fans and they're wholly responsible for getting me into Trek in the first place. I'm not ashamed to say that I stole it off the internet a week after it came out since she really wanted to see it but was far too sick to go to the theatre. Watching that shitty camcorder copy of the movie was one of the last days I spent with my mom before she was too drug-addled to know where she was. And yes, she liked it.

Good for these people for trying to make their friend/husband happy before he goes. Life's too short.

I agree with the fuck cancer sentiments. My step father died early this year due to cancer. It's so great that JJ has worked to get this fan a chance to see the film.

I admit, this made me tear up a bit. So very glad the guy got to see it, even a rough cut.

And my mum died due to leukemia, so...

A hell of a kind response by Abrams. Kudos.

Whatever you think of his interpretation of Star Trek, it is obvious that JJ Abrams is a decent human being. :techman:

    Once again, fuck cancer.

Jees. We think we have problems. :(

Well done to JJ Abrams for the gesture, proving that the humanity is not completely devoid of -ironically- humanity.

There must be none of us here untouched by cancer.

    Fuck cancer.

I say that when we see this film this summer that we should go in tribute to this gentleman and in tribute to Bad Robot's act of kindness.

The word is given... warp speed.
