From the Official British Monarchy Facebook Page:

Their Royal Highnesses The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are very pleased to announce that The Duchess of Cambridge is expecting a baby.

The Queen, The Duke of Edinburgh, The Prince of Wales, The Duchess of Cornwall and Prince Harry and members of both families are delighted with the news.

The Duchess was admitted this afternoon to King Edward VII Hospital in Central London with Hyperemesis Gravidarum. As the pregnancy is in its very early stages, Her Royal Highness is expected to stay in hospital for several days and will require a period of rest thereafter.

And here's an excerpt from the Guardian:

St James's Palace announced the news after the duchess was admitted to hospital on Monday afternoon with acute morning sickness.

It is understood that the duchess is not yet 12 weeks. But the fact she has been admitted to hospital, and is likely to stay there for several days, forced the palace into making an announcement earlier than it would have liked.

... The baby will be the third in line to the throne, bumping Prince Harry, the baby's uncle, to fourth place.

I hope that Prince William & Princess Kate have a boy!!

The British Monarchy has a facebook page? Why do I find that amusing.

Anyway, congrats to the couple. I'm sure he will make a fine prince one day. Lord knows they already have a few interesting princes's or something.

Well, I'm happy for William and Kate. I hope they raise a happy, prosperous family. :)

And now all those trashy women's magazines can finally have a truthful cover.

One magazine in Australia has having cover stories about Kate being pregnant for the past 11 months.

i realise i just dont care. nothing about this is interesting.

and before anyone says 'dont post if you got nothing nice to say' i post this as a protest against the sentiment that i must rejoice to this news.

Congrats to them. Interesting that I'm hearing they are 8 weeks pregnant and 8 weeks ago they were in the Solomons.

Well I was in the Solomons 8 weeks ago...

they? is the prince guy pregnant too?

that would actually push it past the threshold of interesting

I saw "confirmation" of this on the cover of a magazine at the grocery store yesterday, but dismissed it. Seems like she's always pregnant. But now that we have real confirmation, I hope all is well with her and I hope their first is a girl. My mother thinks she'll have twins.

Already this is more than hilarious, especially seeing as she's in hospital for acute morning sickness. I know I shouldn't mock, because maybe she really needs the care, but still...

On the serious side, I'm pleased for anyone expecting a child, especially their first. On the amusing side, this is going to be much fun indeed, as anything is when it involves interest in the royals.

They are not pregnant. She is pregnant. I absolutely hate that "we are pregnant" or "they are pregnant" cutesy terminology.

No offense, just taking the opportunity of your comment to vent on a pet peeve... :)
