Princess Kate (aka the Duchess of Cambridge) is Pregnant!

Princess is a title usually conveyed by birth, rather than marriage. As Prince William's wife she's most formally refered to as Princess William, failing that she's the Duchess of Cambridge or Countess of Strathearn in Scotland.
Always had my suspicions about him.

That's a load of bollocks. Princess Diana was never called Princess Charles.

No it is quite true. Her formal title is Princess William, Duke of....

Princess Diana was both never an actual princess, despite what people called her and was from marriage the Princess of Wales, which brings a bit more clout than Duchess of Cambridge.

I believe the Queen has an aunt who is called Princess Michael--she married Prince Michael of somesuch and he never got a higher title.

When Mr. King gets married, his wife is Mrs. King
When the King gets married, his wife is the Queen
When Prince William gets married, his wife is Princess William

When Ms. Queen gets married, her husband keeps his name
When the Queen gets married, her husband gets no title
Etc.

It's usage innit? If they call her Princess Catherine then that's what she'll be called. Protocol went out the window with Diana. The Royal Household was forced to change a lot of things because of her. Also when Princess Elizabeth married Philip, he was forced to take the Windsor name, instead of Battenburg (or Mountbatten as they styled themselves). He declared he might as well have been a eunuch at the time. His uncle Louis was furious, since he had done all the wheeling and dealing to secure the marriage.

Another non-working mum gets up the duff so her brood can live at taxpayers' expense...

And subjects us all to months of inane tat about "what will it look like, will it be twins, what will it be called...?" Who - among the millions of us who don't know her - gives a fuck?

We knew it would take The Onion only hours to respond... Cut This Monster Out of Me!
Oh... my.
As soon as sleep finally arrives, I find my psyche plagued by nightmares of terrifying vividness—10,000 horses drowning in pus; crimson-eyed children feasting on the head of King Richard II; a smiling, dagger-toothed worm wriggling in viscous slime.
No, that's cool; I wasn't planning on sleeping tonight anyway. :cardie:

Seriously, though, pretty hilarious/spot-on Lovecraft pastiche, that.

Whenever I hear about Kate, the first thing that always comes to mind is that she had a poster of him on her wall before they met. That nugget of trivia just never gets old. :rommie:

The thing I like about those two is that not only do they love each other, they LIKE each other.

looks like her condition is more serious than just morning sickness. Hope she is being made comfortable. :(

wonder how this will affect further children. They wanted a big family

I've heard that the condition she has is often indicative of twins or a girl. Who knows how true that is, but either way I hope everything turns out alright. I guess this form of sickness is pretty uncomfortable and can really dehydrate you, as you can't keep any food or even water down.

Yeah, her title was "Diana, Princess of Wales", not "Princess Diana".
Correct, the latter is specifically reserved for Wonder Woman.

Correct or not, it's not what the public called her and it's not what the media called her - even the mighty BBC.

Indeed. They seem to genuinely care for one another. Plus, I can't help liking them.

I'd say so, especially since the examples above are far from universal. Many women take their husbands' last name, but many don't. (For example, as a rule women don't that here in Italy.)

when these rules were made up it was inconveivable that woman would be carrying the title..

It's more than "pretty uncomfortable." Hyperemesis gravidarum can lead to dehydration, electrolyte imbalance, and if not controlled, GI bleeding, malnutrition, & in severe cases neurological damage.

I learned something today:

Last year, the Commonwealth to a step toward monarchal equality and declared that woman have the same rights as men when it comes to ascension...so first borns get the crown, regardless of their parts. This is called "Absolute primogeniture" and will apparently be formally introduced at a future date...probably within 9 month.

And Kate just loves the limelight. She enjoys the royal life much more than Diana ever did. She's just having a blast with the whole thing.

Also: Pippa is hot. Just thought I'd throw that out there.
