Sing, from time to time. It doesn't matter if you think you're the worst singer in the world - you can always find a private place to do it. For the few minutes while you're singing, you won't think about the other things going on in your life that are causing you pain. And if you really can't bring yourself to do the singing yourself, listen to some music performed by someone else. Don't just have your iPod in while you're doing something else - really listen to what the lyrics are saying, and what the melody and harmonies are doing.

Love those closest to you with every fiber of your being. Your time with them is never, ever as long as you wish it were.
I'm pretty sure the idea is that you're singing for yourself - for your own enjoyment, or just because you felt like it and don't care whether anyone hears. Also, there are plenty of songs which sound good sung in a bass range.
