Two and a Half Men star calls show 'filth', wants us to stop watching

Angus T. Jones, the "Half" from the show's title, slams the show in a video testimony that was recorded for the Forerunner Christian Church.

For those who don't want to watch, here's some of what he said:

"Jake from 'Two and a Half Men' means nothing. He is a non-existent character," Jones says in a video for the Forerunner Christian Church, which is based in Fremont, Calif. "If you watch 'Two and a Half Men,' please stop watching 'Two and a Half Men.' I'm on 'Two and a Half Men' and I don't want to be on it. Please stop watching it and filling your head with filth. People say it’s just entertainment. Do some research on the effects of television and your brain, and I promise you you’ll have a decision to make when it comes to television, especially with what you watch."

Jones continues with the testimonial, intimating that the show is part of the plan of "the enemy" -- presumably Satan. He adds, "If I am doing any harm, I don't want to be here. I don't want to be contributing to the enemy's plan ... You cannot be a true God-fearing person and be on a television show like that. I know I can't. I'm not OK with what I'm learning, what the bible says and being on that television show."

I guess the only reason he's still on the show is because of his contractual obligation.

He inhaled after Sheen exhaled too often?

Possibly a huge hoax or prank.

Re: Two and a Half Men star calls show 'filth', wants us to stop watch

Any sitcom with a laugh track is bad.

I wonder if this is why they sent Jake off into the Army last season. He's barely appeared this season. Apparently Jones has become more religious over the past year and this may have led the producers to lessen his role. I wouldn't be surprised if eventually he and the producers get together and get him out of his contract. If they really need a half man maybe they can reveal that Walden has a kid he knows nothing about and is dropped on his doorstep by someone.

Ain't that the truth.

Any show that needs to tell the viewers when to laugh, is - by definition - not funny enough.

This show itself may not be the work of the devil, but laugh tracks definitely are. :p

Re: Two and a Half Men star calls show 'filth', wants us to stop watch

Somebody needs to produce a sitcom about all the behind the scenes antics on that show. I don't watch broadcast sitcoms, but I'd watch that.

Re: Two and a Half Men star calls show 'filth', wants us to stop watch

He should give his $350,000 an episode to charity. What an ingrate. I like what someone said on Twitter about it: "Looks like Kirk Cameron has finally found someone to come to his birthday parties."

Re: Two and a Half Men star calls show 'filth', wants us to stop watch

Well obvioulsy he doesn't feel strongly enough about it to break his contract.

He can't break his contract, but the producers can dump him rather easily. They did it with Sheen and they can do it again.

Re: Two and a Half Men star calls show 'filth', wants us to stop watch

Anyone can break a contract, that isn't to say there wouldn't be a penalty for doing so, which of course they would be. After all in order to get rid of Sheen didn't CBS have to break thee 2 year contract they had with him despite only being one year into it?

Don't you think that opinion is a little closed-minded? I mean, by this logic, Seinfeld isn't funny. The Cosby Show isn't funny. Cheers isn't funny. Frasier isn't funny. The Big Bang Theory isn't funny. All In The Family, Mary Tyler Moore, The Jeffersons, Three's Company, Friends... none of them are funny. Need I go on?

"How I Met Your Mother" has a laugh track, and I think it's one of the funniest shows I've ever seen. An honestly, it would probably sound weird without one.

Re: Two and a Half Men star calls show 'filth', wants us to stop watch

^I'm not a fan of laughter tracks myself, I don't mind it when its a studio audiance laughing, but otherwise can I decide what's funny or not please.

Re: Two and a Half Men star calls show 'filth', wants us to stop watch

I'm trying to listen to the video. Gah these people talk slowly. GET TO THE POINT!!

Re: Two and a Half Men star calls show 'filth', wants us to stop watch

After seeing Charlie Sheen live his life for so many years this kid is probably scared to death that he'll somehow follow suit.
I also think most religions, and a lot of agnostics and athiests would all agree that this show sucks. Not so much the message it sends, but just the simple fact that it sucks. So, ok Angus, I won't watch your show. No problem.

Re: Two and a Half Men star calls show 'filth', wants us to stop watch

So it seems he's in a pre-apocalyptic seventh day adventist drama now where he gets to be a big star since he has this awesome testimony full of.. "and then I was doing drugs.. and I was really selfish.." the kid is 19!

So some actual quotes:

"would it be possible to create a celebrity status that made god appealing to people"

That's apparently the grand plan,

Because you know you don't want to give up the celebrity part.

"and he showed me what the bible taught about hell and I was like, wow this seems really awesome"

I swear this is much funnier than Two and a Half Men.

Re: Two and a Half Men star calls show 'filth', wants us to stop watch

So let's see if I understand things: this guy doesn't want to be on the show, but rather than having the balls to walk away he's staying on it, accepting a "filthy" pay check which is probably more per episode than most of us are paid in a year. And on top of everything, he's telling people not to watch it on religious grounds?

At least Charlie Sheen was funny the way he left. This is just sad.

Re: Two and a Half Men star calls show 'filth', wants us to stop watch

I'm sure he's still cashing the checks and will continue to collect residuals for a very, very long time.

Re: Two and a Half Men star calls show 'filth', wants us to stop watch

I keep thinking this is a Joaquin Phoenix sort of thing. Some kind of bad joke or publicity stunt for something else...

He makes 350,000 per episode.

That's a whole lot of filth, it must be quite a burden.
